im so lost. He wasn't even the best player on his team, santana was.

He didn't even cross my mind when thinking about a MVP. Were his numbers really that good? Did he really have that effect on his team?

MAUER WAS Setting him up, without Mauer, look at less RBI production.

YOU CANT SAY HOWARD WASNT A GOOD PICK FOR MVP. LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS???? WITHOUT HIM, PHILLIES WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE CELLAR ALL SEASON.
EVEN WITHOUT PUJOLS ST LOUIS WOULD STILL HAVE A SOLID SQUAD.

The MVP for baseball has absolutely no relevance to team preformance, unlike the NFL and NBA MVP awards.Remember when A-Rod won it for Texas in 2002 on a LOSING team?

Ryan's "hidden" numbers were nowhere near Albert's.

SMH, no they wouldn't of, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE MADE THE PLAYOFFS, EVERYONE ON THAT TEAM WAS OFF, EXCEPT PUJOLS AND ECKSTEIN. The rest of the line-up was mediocre at best. Pitching, and their limited offense got them the Championship.

It's tough for a starting pitcher to win an MVP, they only go out once every 5 games.

I don't think Morneau was that bad of a choice.

Starting Pitchers very rarely win the MVP Award b/c they only play 1 out of every 5 days.

Of course Santana's a stud and in the long run, better at his craft than Morneau is at his, but you can't be the most valuable guy on the squad if you only play 1 out of every 5 days.

To the guys who say Mauer should've gotten it, he doesn't hit for power. Of course he was "setting Morneau up" but every power hitter in the game is set up by somebody. Jimmy Rollins was setting Ryan Howard up.

To the guys who say Jeter should've gotten it, the reason he probably didn't is b/c he played on a stacked lineup. The Twins were an offensively starved club that hadn't had a 30 HR guy since 1987. What he did went a longer ways for the Twins than what Jeter did for the Yanks (although Jeter does bring defense into the picture while Morneau doesn't really).

All in all, some tough calls, but I think the writers got it right this year.

Northwest people, be proud of that Northwest Native Justin Morneau doing his thing.

1. which numbers? the ones where he was near the top of the league in strikeouts?

2. StL barely made playoffs, without Pujols they would have been at home in October

Doesn't matter if you are a run-producer. And to be a run-producer AND strike out a lot, it means you ain't doing it w/ guys in scoring position, less than 2 outs, which is how big guys can make a living in MLB.
