Home studio build one or pay for time.......

today I had a session with a local rapper, he came prepared had his flows , his beats ready to rock or so it seemed. But 4 hours later and 200 out his pocket he only had a 16 layed down, said fuck it and left.

I advised him to get his own set up, cause at this rate it's gonna get expensive

Do you guys think it's worth it to pay for studio time or just invest in a home studio and call it a day.

if he taking 4 hours to drop a 16...something is definatly wrong....I personally can drop a 16 in 15 minutes....sleepy from deep sleep can vouch for me.....i'm not talking down on dude but ......

home studios are always best for pre-production...then take it when you ready to record full quality to a big studio.....

Someone that takes 4 hours to do a 16 is the reason that the Bay and rap period is flooded with poor quality music. A real artist ( rapper ) would have perfected his raps well before stepping into the studio - example, San Quinn came to the studio, wrote his verse and spit it with his doubles and ad-libs in a half an hour one time for us. Not saying all rappers should be that way, but rapping is a skill, if you take 4 hours to do a verse, you probably don't need to be rapping.

home studios flood the market.but if u rap its best to have your own setup!
and if u can,make and own your beats(u can buy rights to!)learn the basics then take dat to a pro they can work wonders lol!well make shit sound clean!my advice to all westcoast independent labels.

i built a booth that gets no sound in or out a rode mic and i write my raps,memorize em then spit 2 takes im done.fast im knockin shit out then i mix down and edit word 4 word in the vocals takes me about 1 hour to edit a track
