Two members of a Hollywood film crew found some gritty real-life drama this afternoon on Detroit’s west side when two shotgun-wielding teens robbed them in the normally quiet neighborhood.

The crew was in the 4800 block of Avery in Detroit’s Woodbridge neighborhood surveying the area in preparation for a film shoot when two teens in bandanas robbed them about 2:15 p.m., said Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens Bell and spokesman John Roach.
“Both had shotguns, and they robbed them at gunpoint,” Roach said. “They got a wallet and a cell phone from a crew member and fled on foot.”
Police quickly responded to a 911 call and began chasing one of the suspects. <>The suspect ran between two houses north of Hancock and tried to scale a fence but failed, Stephens Bell said.
The teen then turned and pointed his gun at the officers.
“At that time, our officer fired a round and hit the suspect, injuring him,” Roach said. “He’s going to be OK.”
Stephens Bell said the suspect was hit in the shoulder and taken to a local hospital.
About an hour later, the second suspect approached a woman on Warren and asked if he could use her phone. The woman, suspicious of the man, told him no then called police.
Officers arriving in the area spotted a man with a red bandana sticking out of a rear pocket and arrested him, Stephens Bell said. Police recovered the stolen items and a weapon from the alleged robbers.
“It started out bad but we had a really good police response and we got both suspects, both guns and no one from the crew was hurt,” Roach said. “They also got their belongings back.”
The crew was working on the Hollywood production “Little Murder,” which stars Terrence Howard. Howard was not nearby at the time.
Set in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the film focuses on a disgraced detective and the ghost of a beautiful cellist who solicits the cop’s help in finding her killer.

I didn't know Terrence Howard has a new movie coming out. But I did know parts of Detroit look like post-hurricane Katrina.
