not sure if this was discussed before (probably) but whats your take on hole punches in the barcode? obviously the value is less, but to you personally and as a seller/buyer, how do you feel about them?

I don't care if it's a hole punch in the bar code but if I can choose I'll go for an ordinary version. Same thing with a spine cut as long as the cut doesn't fuck up the whole cover art. I'd prefer a hole punch edition to a re-release any day.

Yeap it pisses me off when you ask a seller if it's a cut-out or promo marked, you explain what it is, they say no, and yet about 5 of your order are cuts outs (happened to me yesterday evening!)

I dont like paying high prices for cut-outs if the item isn't mega rare. That's my one issue with the phenomenon.

as a buyer: i really dont mind if an item has a hole punch in the barcode or a cut in the spine because it doesnt really take away from the main artwork. just like Cashflow, i dont like how cover inserts have cut corners/hole punches on the front where it's noticeable. so with that said, if the hole punch is in the barcode, i'd still offer the same amount of money as if it didn't have a holepunch. BUT if the hole punch is on the front cover then i would lower my offer/bid.

as a seller: i don't see a difference in prices when selling RARE items with hole punches in barcodes or cut spines. seems like buyers are only worried about bootlegs, tab marks, and scratches. with that said, every time i sold a rare item with a hole punch in the barcode it always ended around the same price another seller got for their Mint copy. but i guess it really depends on how rare the item is.

^^^you know those small tabs that hold the front cover in place? sometimes people don't put the front insert in correctly and when they close the jewel case it makes a dent into the cover.
tab marks sucks but not as much as a water damaged cover art. I've got a few of those during the years. "Oh I forgot to write that in the description....you can't open the cover can you?"

^^damn that sucks. the DGSB was kinda like that but i got the inserts to open up.

i also hate getting cd's with dead cockroaches/spiders. i mostly find them in the cd's with a cut in the spine. and i hate ordering vinyl that the seller says is in good shape and end up getting a copy thats covered with cockroach shit stains.
