I seen this a long time ago. I'm not really feelin it. It seems like too much shit crammed together, If one thing messes up, you're out your whole setup.

I don't like XP either.

Looks like another overpriced gimmick.

^^^ it is too much shit crammed together. I'm not a fan of all in one workstations because like you said if something blows the entire unit is down the drain. Sort of like a tv vcr combo unit with a tape stuck in the vcr part.

This machine has to have a gazillion kinks that haven't been worked out yet :

Can I run GigaStudio on my Open Labs product?
GigaStudio is an amazing application that is perfectly suited for Open Labs™ hardware. It operates at the kernel level of the operating system which gives the end user amazing performance at extremely low latency. However, due to the nature of its performance, GigaStudio can cause system instability when installed with other audio applications. If you wish to install GigaStudio we recommend uninstalling all unrelated audio applications and use your neKo™ or OMX64™ as a "Giga DAW".

i've been looking at it
if it came without all the software
and i was touring, i'd buy that shit in a second

i can use my own converters, i'd just install waves L1, L2 and the UAD pci card, and put a copy of Cubase SX in it...

but it's really expensive
but like i said again, it's a great fuckin space saver

and LE uses Emu's dsp engine...
the LE is the steal...
the rest i wouldn't touch

^^^ I get what you're saying but I don't know of anyone who is running giga sampler with a lap top. Everyone I know who runs giga sampler does so on a seperate machine (pc) because the program requires a lot of ram/hard drive space and requires fast hard drive speeds. If lap top drives are spinning @ 7200 rpms and have a nice seek time and buffer everything should be fine.

of course you could possibly remedy that by using an external drive but that means more cables, more loot and prayers that the drive does not wig out during a session.

I/O seems to be another factor. Lap tops have limited I/O and those who do have good I/O's have an external device (like an mbox or something) that everything is routed through. More money.

controller? more loot.

ram? well that machine can have up to 3 gigs of ram. streaming would be a breeze. I don't know the max ram amount for laptops.

100 plugins at the same time?

add it all up and you're faced with roughly the same price but probably a several hundred cheaper if you go the lap top route. Now that I think about it the BEST market for the machine would be those who use soft samplers especially giga sampler.

I remember seeing that awhile ago, they start at like 4000 bucks. I dont think someone will pay that much for something like that
