I have some good news. But first, I want us to remember a little while back, someone mentioned how rock stations were playing eminem, as if to make a race issue out of it. I tried to figure out for myself, why do they play it? The only thing I can think of, is that if it isn't because he's white, then it must be the gutair playing part of the beat. I actually wasn't buying it myself, and I sort of rested with the conclusion that his skin color had something to do with it. That was until a few days ago when I heard Outkast - Hey ya! on the same rock stations that were playing eminem, I was suprised to say the least. So when I got home I went to check the billboard charts (as I often do) and I found 'Hey ya!' was #19 on the Modern Rock charts. Check it out here [http://www.billboard.com/bb/charts/airplay/modern.jsp].

I thought I would just share this with everyone, maybe it will ease the racial tension a little. I think this is tight as hell. That is a good song too if for some reason you have yet to hear it. Check out the video to it as well.

I don't like that song anymore because one time I saw my mammy shaking her asshoe to that song, which ruined the prospect of me getting a boner for the rest of my life.

that song isn't "RAP"! its more towards rock, and the way Andre sings it and plays it, the sound is heavily influence by 60s rock sound, the beatles...thats why its on the playing on the rock stations.

has for rock stations playing eminem, some of his music have a hard guitar riff to them...but i dont know if its on all his songs they play.

Who said it was RAP? It is clearly resembling the early stages of rock'n'roll, it's especially noticable when you watch the video. You have pointed out the obvious.

I think everyone who has heard the song or seen the video knows that, I was merely agreeing with you. I think I have only heard "Lose yourself" on any rock station, it definatley has a gutair riff on it, it's a big part of the song.

lol, its not like its hard to figure out why they play eminem on rock stations, because no matter what people like eminem, IT GETS LISTENERS, how can it be so hard to figure that out, they play it because people will listen to it, rock station or not, i kno in seattle theyve played 3 em tracks on the rock station alone,it just brings listeners

Your entire point is debunked by the fact that "The Real Slim Shady" got just as much play on the rock stations as his guitar based music. Please explain to me how harpsichord and analog bass loops belong on a rock station. Right now.

I have never in my life, heard the real slim shady on a rock station, thats not to say it ever happened, though. Because I have yet to hear it, I won't comment on that song.

I know that "Lose yourself" has a gutair tab to it.
Also, "Sing for the moment" is a Aerosmith remake.

As to your question, why does that song belong on the radio? Because people want to hear it. The sole purpose of a radio station is to attract listeners so they can increase advertisig prices. If they get 400 phone calls from people wanting to hear Jay-Z they will play it.

that should basically end this little thread. your're comparing two different genres of music. eminem's songs are considered "rap" and this "hey ya" isn't really rap music.

let us know how the rest of your research goes though....

First off, you guys, this thread was more so intended to recognize Outkast on this new level they have achieved, not so much the comparison to eminem. Would it make it any easier if I deleted the part about em?

UKantCMe: They are still a rap group. There are many rock groups that rap in their songs but you don't hear it on hip-hop or R&b radio stations, because they are rock bands.

No actually they don't. If they played only what they wanted they would lose listeners [the key to radio station longevity]. When they lose listeners they lose advertising and/or the price level for advertising and promoting, therefore ridding any accumulative profits. The radio station shuts down. Bye.
