Hey remember those mixtapes with no voiceovers, original material, a few jacked beats, a a gang of artists people wanted to see collab? COMPILATIONS!!! Those were the best mixtapes. Remember when Quinn and Guce and JT and Mac Dre and Dubee and all the artists used to get down like 17 Reasons, The Rompilation, Isolated in the Game, Heated Speeches...

17 Reasons sold a lot of fuckin units. I dont get it, the bay was makin great compilation style cds back in the day...

Compilations KILLED the Bay Area for the most part...I gotta disagree witcha on this one pimpin
Yea only cause everyone could make one. Same thing with the mixtapes. What helped the comps though was that when a legit label put one out you knew you were getting some dope new material.

Maybe it's just me but it seems to me there still been way more compilations comin out than mixtapes.

Honestly, it wouldn't suprise me if some cats are using mixtapes as a way to get around paying for beats.

I'm with Psilo on this one. Having 50 guest appearances, features, or whatever else you want to call them... that shit played out a long time ago. I'm looking for someone to put out a good solid solo album. Cats swear up & down they deserve some shine and credibility......well, what better way to earn it? Show me you can stand on your own two feet and make a mutha fucka feel like you're worth $15.

yea of course I want a fuckin solos. Basically, what Im gettin at, is a TIGHT compilation is better then a TIGHT mixtape. I'd rather listen to Heated Speeches than The Done Deal Party Mix (even though lyrically they matured so much).

1 SENTANCE FOR YA...... "B.A.R.T. TO THE 91SICCNESS" DOUBLE CD... ONLY $10.... 44 SONGS

I THINK MIXTAPES ARE COO TO PROMOTE YOURSELF, BUT I THINK TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE CONCENTRATING ON THESE MIXTAPES TO MAKE THEM BIG... TO ME ITS JUST PROMO, NOT WORTH PAYIN MORE THEN $5 FOR, OR SHOULD BE FREE... I SAY DO ONE EVERY NOW AND THEN "FOR FUN, AND PROMO" BUT THEN GET DOWN AND DIRTY ON YOUR REAL ALBUM.... BUT REMEMBER YOU HALF STEP ON A MIX TAPE, WHICH MOST DO... YOU COULD ACTUALLY LOSE SALES ON YA REAL ALBUM THAT YOU PUT YA HEART INTO...

Interesting point. That's some fucked up shit. I dont know your business but if true thats some bullshit. But that's weird hearing it from you, your label sold like 50K with WestCoast Mafia. That's what I mean: if a trustful label drops a comp. everyone will support.
