WELL I HAVENT SAW THE MOVIE SO I CAN'T GIVE YOU MY TAKE. I WILL SEE THE MOVIE WEDS MORNING SO AFTER THAT I'LL POST A MORE IN DEPTH RESPONSE. I WILL GO ON RECORD TO SAY I'M *NOT* DIGGING THE HIPPIE/HIPPY JESUS. IN ALMOST EVERY JESUS MOVIE EVER MADE THEY HAVE SOME BIKER/HEROIN SMOKER GUY PLAYING THE ROLE OF YESHUA. ALL SKINNY, RIBS SHOWING AND LOOKING AS IF HE SLAMMED AN OUNCE OF SMACK IN HIS ARMS (BEFORE HE WAS CRUCIFIED). HOLLYWOOD DOES A GOOD JOB OF MAKING JESUS LOOK LIKE "SUPER FAGGY MAN" AND SO DO MOST CHRISTIANS.
YOU WANT TO MAKE A GOOD YESHUA/JESUS MOVIE? HAVE A *REAL* MIDDLE EASTERN (OR SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE BIN LADEN) PLAY THE ROLE OF YESHUA AND HAVE HIM CAST OUT DEMONS. SORT OF LIKE THE EXORCIST BUT FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE BASED ON THE EXORCISMS YESHUA PERFORMED. THAT WOULD BE *SICK*.......I KNOW DENZEL ISNT "MIDDLE EASTERN" BUT I COULD SEE HIM PLAYING THE ROLE.

I don't know if I would let my son see it. Probably. I would have to see it first though. I would probably wait until it came out on DVD or on cable or something so I could explain to him what's going on without disturbing other people in the movie theater. =)

This movie looks bad ass! I don't know about Denzel or some middle-eastern actor playing Jesus, why would that be neccessary. What nationality does the Bible talk about him being?I think it's only right the movie is rated 'R', I mean have you seen how looks when he's on the cross..

Why is it neccessary to have a blonde hair blue eyed white male playing the role of jesus in 99.9% of the jesus movies ever made? Would you make a movie based on Ghandi and not show people from India? If you were making a movie based on Nobunaga would you use Italians? HELL NO!!!!! If your going for an "aunthetic" feel why not get as close to the real thing as possible?
Look at it like this. Your average jesus picture is that of a white man. He looks frail, has a perm, carries a lamb on his shoulders and appears to be meek or passive. The same can be said about the jesus movies. Can you imagine the mental effect it would have on people? To see a black or hebrew jesus when all you're used to seeing is a white guy? Not to mention that he isnt weak but comes with authority?

I would be interested to see how people would react to a movie with a non-white Jesus. I've always wondered how they can portray him like that knowing where he was from. And it's also interesting that they mostly show white people in every aspect of the "Jesus movies." I was completely unaware that the Middle East was completely inhabited by white people around the time of Jesus. lol
The funny thing about the Jesus debate is that both white and black folks go back and forth with Jesus claimin he's either white or black. Everyone wants him to be a certain way, sort of like the Oriental Budha LOL!

Christ was beat and whipped by 10 different guards at once. After being severely whipped, he was forced to wear a thorn crown around his head while carrying his own death cross.
