MOMENT OF SILENCE

Bay Area rapper Mac Dre was shot and killed in Kansas City, Missouri this past November. Sources say the Vallejo, California-based rapper was riding in a car when another car drove up and opened fire. Gaining popularity during the 1990s Bay Area Hip Hop Boom, Mac Dre's career was stopped short by a five year prison sentence. Released in 1996, Dre continued to make albums. His funeral was held in Fairfield, California's Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Condolences go out to his family and friends.

They didn't have to mar his memory by mentioning the prison shit but at least they didn't mention the whole Romper Room stuff. I'm glad that The Source at least put it in there.

yeah, its cool they mentioned him, but its like, whats funny is how hypocritical that magazine is. They love to talk about how peoples views of hip hop are so skewed by the media, and how they always have to focus on the negative sides of hip hop, and then they have to go and mention the prison sentence. Yes, he served time, but what does that have to do with anything? thats like the fucking SF chronicle making their whole article about him about how he was involved in the "robberies"...its the exact same fucking thing. it just makes rap look bad.

anyway, its cool they mentioned him. thanks for the post, jay tee.

I used to think of The Source as the Hip Hop Bible but once Benzino got them into that stupid beef with Eminem, their credibility went down for me. The realest issue for me was the one with interviews with all the rappers in jail.

Yeah they should have had a longer article..but atleast they had something on MD. Was there a picture of him or just the article. Doesn't really matter I am just wondering because I haven't picked up the Source in atleast 5 years.
