I have here, a short little peice from Revolver magazine by Henry Rollins. Some of you know who Henry Rollins is, most of you probably don't. He is most famous for his (metal) music in both of his bands, Black Flag (started in 1981) and Rollins Band (started in 1988), which combined to produce 20 different albums. He has been in numerous movies (11 of them), T.V. shows, and books. Revolver is a magazine dedicated to Rock-Metal music. In this edition the readers were given a number of polls ranging from your favorite food, to your favorite band. One of the polls asked, "who should be president", and Henry Rollins was number one. In light of these results, revolver conducted a short list of topics where Henry Rollins would give his opinion, and the following was his response to the war on terror:

THE WAR ON TERROR: I visited some U.S. military bases in Afghanistan, which was eye-opening. Some guy at one of the bases says to me, 'would it blow your mind if we told you that we know where Osama is, and we're going to get him right before the election?'. I asked one high-ranking officer, 'why are we here, really?' And he goes, 'No matter what you see and hear on the news this is about oil'. And who bears the brunt of this? Five-hundred-plus U.S. war dead, and over 3,000 with severe injuries. Our quest to beat down the Taliban and liberate Iraq is costing American lives, and we are getting chewed up by land mines and suicide bombings. There's going to be a lot of dead American steaming meat coming home for a long time, and it's going to drain this country a lot of money.

I know this isn't news to many of you, but it is the source that is what I am focusing on. The media--from both sides--is too often unreliable and a primary source of controling public opinion (brainwashing). So I read this, a somewhat small-time rock magazine, and an outspoken metal head, and thought to myself, where could you find a better source for the truth?

Would it have been easier for you to make that reply, or not make one at all.

I wonder how many people are dumb enough to believe that "Bush" would have anything to do with the capture of Osama. Is he giving orders to troops through a mouthpeice? LOL. Also, are you refering to Henry Rollins as "the many mouths of the beast"? I didn't quite catch onto that one.

Rollins is straight up punk.
You're refering to his music? I think it's both metal and punk, depends on what song (and what era) you're listening to.

stupid remark, its not really that simple. but on the other hand did being "bush" had anything to do with the florida count during the last election?

Ummm, can you explain to me how it is a "stupid" remark when the presidents apporval rating shot up when Saddam was captured? I think it is that simple. Why else would it matter if Osama is caught right before the election?

Rollin's is pretty tight, not a big fan of metal/rock ... but I like Rollins. He's a pretty intelligent guy and seems to be one of very few people in the spotlite that isn't fake.

{Really annoys me to see replies like that too, but Heresy has always liked to go out of his way to make uneccessary replies if I remember correctly.}

I hate when people edit their replies, but don't fix their mistake, just make a note correcting the mistake they leave incorrect.

But back on subject ... I am sure your magizine "embellishes" the truth a little as well. Do you get it for free? Probably not ... so it is in the same spot as the hated "mainstream" media as well. Both are trying to get attention in one way or another. But it sounds like it's more likely true than most garbage that is being spread. I mean I don't think I am a REAL smart guy ... but am I the only one that thinks it's kinda funny Bush got all his money from an oil company? But he doesn't CARE about the oil over there. You would think people are more intelligent, but as you so pointed to the polls, they aren't.

Bush sits in a warm cozy white house while soldiers die fighting to capture these terrorists ... and HE gets better ratings when they are successful. I would hope that if we do capture Bin Laden, people are smart enough to not vote for Bush. War is stupid and I don't agree with the war over there (and YES it is still war over there as stated clearly above) ... and I don't commend soldiers fighting blindly for their country just because it is their country ... BUT talk about oil, political agendas, etc being the only reason we are over there ... I have talked to people who have family over there and have lived there ... and we DID do some good. Know one should have to live under a tyrant. Now we will see if they just give them another Tyrant to rule over them or not.

Anyways, war is a sad thing, and so is the fight for power, when what power do any of us really have over anyone else. But that's another subject as well.

Just some babble,
Cac tha 6-0

He had a spoken word tour speech recently. I think the title was "What Shock and Awe?". The poster had him with a funny ass look on his face just like "what the fuck?", it was funny shit.

And I like Rollins Band, but I prefer Black Flag. (early punk, a pioneer punk band) But I would recommend Rollins Band as well. Rollins has always been a voice in counter culture. And Cacarot, most of the shit you are saying is ike 6 months behind on this board. Most of us know/agree to it, and in fact have much more in depth ideas about exactly what goes down.

I did pay for the magazine, but the next issue, the last issue, and likely every other issue you find will not involve politics. It was not on the cover, nor on any of the opening pages. In fact, I found it on accident as I was flipping through the pages before I bought it, I just saw his face and read the page. It is possible that Rollins would say this to pursuade the readers, but I don't think he has an agenda.

Okay, "Shock and awe my Ass"? I have heard of that. What does he talk about, though? Black Flag were indeed pioneers. If you ask a lot of punk bands who their influence was, they will tell you black flag.
