So I've tried signing up for an Xbox Live Silver membership (you know, the one thats one month free) twice off of two seperate Xbox360 consoles, and every time I try to get on it says "this player is not authorized to play on xbox live" or something of that nature. So my first question is: why?

We sort of figure it's because there's already been so many silver accounts created from those particular consoles.

Now my second question.

When I've tried to sign up from my own Xbox360, which has no silver accounts created on it I have trouble with my modem.

I have the comcast triple play modem that connects internet, cable, and phone and its made by RCA. When I test my connectivity over Xbox live, it says there's a modem connected but they cant find an IP address for me.

and Im not using any type of router, so I know thats not the issue.

any suggestions?

you can only make so many silver accounts and get 1 month free of gold access. the accounts are tied to your xbox number (that you dont see only microsoft sees) so they can track if your making a bunch of accounts to just get a free month.

1. silver accounts can go online, buy stuff from the marketplace, and download demos and shit. They can NOT play online against other people.

2. Edit your settings and it should have a thing where you can enter your ip address manually. That should work. You might need permission from your isp to access the internet with the 360...
