THEY WANNA KILL INTERNET RADIO, WE NEED YOUR HELP YALL...

THEY ARE TRYING TO PASS A LAW WHERE THEY ARE TRYIN TO RAISE THE PRICE ON BROADCASTING AN INTERNET RADIO STATION BY 300 TO 1500%, WHICH MEANS IF ITS NOW COSTING DAGO SD 100 DOLLERS A MONTH TO BROADCAST THEIR STATION WWW.DAGOSD.COM THAT WOULD GO UP TO $30,000 TO $150,000 A MONTH TO BROADCAST. WHICH IN TURN WOULD SHUT 99% OF ALL THE INTERNET RADIO STATIONS DOWN. WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THAT, WHICH ONLY LEAVE IT OPEN TO BIG COMPANYS LIKE CLEAR CHANNEL TO DO THERE THING. THAT WOULD CLOSE SO MANY DOORS AND SO MANY EARS TO ALL INDI ARTIST OF ALL MUSIC. NOT JUST FOR RAP, BUT ALL MUSIC. THATS WHY WE NEED TO VOICE OUR OPINION. SO PLEASE IF YALL CARE ANY THING ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND YOU'LL WRITE OR EMAIL THE SENATOR. YOU CAN GO TO THIS SITE TO LEARN MORE AND GET INFORMED

As an artist who has gained exposure through creating DagoSD.com Internet radio, I was alarmed to learn that sound recording royalty rates were recently increased – by 300 to 1200 percent – by the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB). For most webcasters the new royalty will exceed their revenue. They will go bankrupt and silent.

As a creator I value my own music and others' music, and royalties are important. But Internet radio is the smallest, newest form of radio and its programming is the most diverse of all – so why should Internet radio pay the highest royalties?

Internet radio offers independent artists the opportunity to find an audience. Musicians who love and play so many music genres can have our music heard and enjoyed through the magic of Internet radio.

I respectfully request that Congress take action to prevent the death of Internet radio. Time is of the essence – as the CRB rates are retroactive to January 1, 2006 this decision could bankrupt many Internet radio services immediately, even if it is effective for only one day.

The majority of the pubic doesn't listen to internet radio. I have built a few sites for people where I have installed various types of streaming, Music players etc. At the end of the day, when I'd check the server logs...the stats just wasn't there. People have their .mp3 players, cellphones, playlists and things like that.

Crhymes,

The stations that have to worry about his bill are the ones trying to be like the Terreristral Radio stations, playing all that top 40 pop shit....folks like us that play mostly indie artist shouldn't be affected by this bill....so pretty much it will turn internet radio into the place to go to hear indie artists...and make Satellite and Terreristral Radio the places to go to listen to top 40 pop music...

at least that is how I understand it...

My advice would be to contact Live365 support and get listed and an independant station like us...

Internet Radio is still pretty new....once you can get it in your car thats when it will blow up....right now internet radio is just starting to get to smartphones.....so it's coming...I agree that most people have their mp3 players and other devices to listen to their music....but everyone wants to hear new music they don't have....that is where radio stations come in...

internet radio is still held back by the technology...it's not widely available...but once it iz...watch out....

we are getting about 80k listeners a month right now...and that is with the constraints of the internet not being available everywhere....I can only imagine how many folks we'll be reaching once the technology is there to make it simple and easy to tune into internet radio

I'm one of those 80k listeners...keep up the good work! You're right about the technology. I think it will start to catch on when Wi-Max hits. There are new frequencies from the F.C.C opening up also that will be bid on in the next year or two as the conversion to digital television brodcasts are at 100%. I read that the current spectrum used by local tv stations will be offered and used for better mobile content. So it won't be long.
