Does anyone sing R&B or pop in here, or has produced it?

If so...I'm having trouble arranging vocals in hooks and I'm trying my best listening to r&b singers (kc and jojo) singing in octaves over hooks, but I'm having trouble matcvhing notes etc...

also I'm wondering what effects are nice on singing vocals...i tried chorus but that already makes my brittle voice too muddy with the mids...i seem to like a lot of multitap delay - but i dunno

as far as FX on singing vocals a NICE LUSH REVERB will do the trick. i the vocalist a male or female? if the vocalist is a female listen to the ENTIRE anita baker rapture album. if the vocalist is a guy i suggest you list to......well.......cant really help you on that man because i dont listen to r&b now if it was ROCK. by all means listen to the lead singer of STP. he uses a "HIDDEN" fx and you have to "rig" your system up so you can actually here whats there. otherwise you wouldnt notice it. its blended that well. you can also change delay times. you said the voice is brittle so i would keep the delay time short just to FATTEN it up.

my suggestion to you would be to switch microphones, switch locations and have the singer project UP.

another way to do it is get a good take of the track and PITCH SHIFT with antares auto tune or whatever pitchshifting unit (roland vp9000) you have. what you can do is make 3 copies of the track. pitch one up(however many octaves you like),pitch one down( by the same number as you pitched up) and chop them up. only use certain parts. for the 3rd copy of the track you can offset it and make it OFF from the other tracks (sort of like a delay)

just concentrate on getting a clean take.

what type of mics are you using?????

:H:

ps as i was typing this i read your post again. they are YOUR vocals.....you have a high pitched voice?????

naw that track is done ... i have a new track which i dropped a really nice beat, and 2 of my deepest, most painful verses I've ever dropped - the beat is melodic so it calls for singing...and I can't seem to hit anything
