Im doing a research paper on how explicit lyrics in music may affect young people. So , for all of you who've been listening to explicit lyrics since you were a kid, how do you think it has effected you now as an adult, and back when you were a youngster. Maybe it hasn't effected you at all. Fill me in and please be honest. Any feedback is greatly appriciated.

From what I can tell, on most influential idiots like Fuckoff, it turns their already squishy brains into a full blown pile of mush. Usually the only parts of the brain that remain are the parts that allow for vulgarity, and poor homosexual references like "gay", "fag", and "queer". It also makes people want to spell things improperly such as "ur" "mutha" and "fagget".

Look at the siccness and see what I mean.

In my case I think it may have only affected my choice of words, but not my way of thinking. I (unlike most) can keep a "fuck" or a "shit" from slipping if family or children are present, but when I'm around friends it's not uncommon to hear just about anything come out of my mouth. (Quick fuckoff, insert an immature homoerotic joke here)

I think you should look less at the explecit language, and more at the content of the songs. You can have a perfectly honest and nice song about god or life (Slippin' by DMX) and say "fuck" or "bitch" without totally trashing the point. If I were you, my paper would be about how the language goes along with the lifestyles that are portrayed in music today, which is just a reflection of real life. Rappers and rock stars don't say "fuck" to sell albums, they say "fuck" because that's how it comes out when they write it down.

I mean, would people rather kids hear songs about loving god that has an occasional "fuck" or "asshole" in it, or a completely clean song about killing your family? It's not the language, it's the content.

Yeah but do you think that had to do with rap music, or just where he grew up or how he was raised? I'm a 19 years old and white, and was smoking buds before I even got into rap music. I was listening to hardcore and gothic music (Cradle of Filth, Hatebreed etc.)... Now I listen to mostly rap, but that doesn't make me run around with a gun and my pants hangin' off my ass. I hate gangs. I did some dealing, but know for sure it had less to do with music and more to do with me wanting to smoke for free.

The whole concept of "music influences children" was created by parents of troubled kids. The kids were troubled because they were shitty parents and won't face up to it.

Yeah, the kids at Columbine wouldn't have shot anybody up if they didn't listen to Marilyn Manson. Sure. Guess what, I own every fuckin Manson album, and a million bootlegs and I have yet to shoot anyone. Maybe when they were making bombs in the garage, one of their drunk assed crackhead parents could have put the beer down and said "Hey kiddo, whatcha doin' in there?" Then idiotic parent groups, catholic groups, and govenmental groups try to censor everything they can just because they don't like it...

If it's not music, it's movies... If it's not movies, it's video games. Fuck man, your mom and pops probably grew up shootin' cap guns at their friends playin cowboys and indians, and I'd be willing to bet that most of them haven't shot anybody. If they did, I also guarantee that nobody tried to blame it on the cd that was playing in his home when he did it.... Nobody wants to be responsible for their own actions anymore because stupid groups out there trying to censor everything we enjoy, gives us that power. Lord knows the day I go over the deep end and shoot up a bunch of innocent people, I'll blame it on Manson and Tech N9ne, Grand Theft Aut0, and the newest action flick, because these idiot groups have given me the power to place the blame of murder on a singer, a rapper, programmers, and screenwriters.
