Dubstep

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music, originating from Croydon, UK. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals".[1]

The earliest dubstep releases, which date back to 1998, were darker, more experimental, instrumental dub remixes of 2-step garage tracks attempting to incorporate the funky elements of breakbeat, or the dark elements of drum and bass into 2-step, which featured as B-sides of single releases. In 2001, this and other strains of dark garage music began to be showcased and promoted at London's club night Forward (sometimes also referred to as FWD>>), which went on to be considerably influential to the development of dubstep. The term "dubstep" in reference to a genre of music began to be used by around 2002, by which time stylistic trends used in creating these remixes started to become more noticeable and distinct from 2-step and grime.

Dubstep is a newer genre of electronic music that shares a lot of similarities with hip-hop. Surprised you guys hadn't heard of it, it's getting huge lately. I personally don't mind it sprinkled in here and there, but hate listening to whole sets of it. I made a dubstep mix this last summer, mostly because of its popularity in the city I live in, not because I like it. Those of you that are into dubstep, let me know what you think. Thanks!

yeah dubstep is bassically bass heavy music with dub influence aka reggae without the vocals too much, and for me i think hip hop producers should be all over it, hint hint!! the very few hip hop artists that have dubstep in there production come hella weak compared to the talent we have in the bay! some artists already gotten on it like wutang and grouch, but i really wanna see some good bay shit connect with some dubstep, there are a ton of remixes of songs but too see a solid album or comp with the bay representing at large would definately stir something up!peep the tracklisting::
