I think I saw on some consumer report watch program that ALL the cables are the same when it comes to transmittability.. For example, it doesn't matter if they are gold plated or not.

Nope, i used to work in an electronics company.. newer cables like the most recent ones can handle higher speeds for audio and video transfer.. as u may know hdmi is the only cable that has audio and video in 1 connection as opposed to rgb or rca cables.. however u dont need monster cables or any top brand.. the ones on ebay will do.

I dont know what theyre up to now 1.4, 1.5 or 1.6? last i checked it was v1.3

IF YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO PAY ANYTHING AND STILL GET A DECENT LENGTH HDMI CABLE....HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO....IT REQUIRES YOU HAVE CABLE OR DIRECT TV

ALL YOU DO IS CALL THEM AND TELL THEM THAT YOU NEED AN EXTRA HDMI CABLE FOR YOUR NEW TV THAT YOU JUST PURCHASED AND THEY WILL EITHER SEND YOU ONE OR MAKE YOU GO AND PICK IT UP.

I HAVE 8 HDMI CABLES USING THIS METHOD.

OR YOU COULD SEND ME 20 DOLLARS AND ILL SEND YOU AN HDMI CABLE LOL.

LED is the newest version, which is supposed to be better than LCD or Plasma TV's
But it really isnt. LED is of the LCD genre...it just uses the crystals a different way.

BTW - I just spent $30 at monoprice.com, and got 4 12' HDMI cables, a 12' fiber optic cable, a 12' analog video cable, and two y-splitter cables. I also got 100' of 16AWG speaker wire for about $18.

Monoprice.com = FTW

i've bought cheap 5 dollar cables and i've bought 90 dollar monster cable

i saw no difference in picture/sound quality....however my cheap cables on occasion will flicker and i'll lose picture/sound...i have a set of cheap cables that wont even transfer picture/sound anymore...i think those were silver plated though

i bought a nice gold plated braided hdmi cable for around 30 at frys and it produces the same quality as my monster cable.....no issues

i wont spend 5 dollars on an HDMI cable....but i wont spend 100 on some name brand cable again either....the monster cable is certainly for the people that need name brand everything...its fuckin crazy like buying a 300 dollar power strip

all your doing is paying for a name....
