I've been thinking the same thing.

I don't know what the problem is, part of it might be that the NW is kind of dead as far as making rap albums right now, I remember last year we had Crytical, Frame & Tha Loco all drop w/in 6 weeks of each other. I'm not as motivated to come on here and post when the region seems to be dead as far as making the music goes.

I'd agree it's cause there's not a lot of albums dropping, especially from people that post on this site.

Like Xpanther said, crytical, frame, the loco, and Neema's album all came out reasonably close to each other, and Neema's album has gotten a lot of attention, but there's just not a lot of new shit droppin, and that creates a buzz which gets views and posts in this forum....

ey i feel ya but the thing is with that is that we gotta get up and coming muthafuckas an ear at the very least. not to be bitchin or complaining, none of that bitch shit but on the real, i just found this site like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I posted some of the music i've made wit some homies and since this is the Northwest Forum and im in the northwest, 509 baby, i expected at the very least some constructive criticism and shit but i only got like 2 replies and shit.

i'm just sayin that to get shit poppin, we gotta have all our ears open for everybody here in the northwest. u never know, one of the ones that aren't bein heard might be that one dat could help skyrocket us into the spotlight but we ain't hearin him/her and can't help ourselves like dat. just a thought. peace

Checkmate & Concise (D.O.T.F.) are coming out with a full-length album in 2006 entitled "African Kings" Which will be featuring the likes of Daz & Kurupt and Devin The Dude. Production by Dj Kemo (Rascalz), Tone Mason (AZ, Talib Kweli), Traintracks Productions. Additional production by DOTF themselves.

Checkmate and a number of other important canadian artists put the NW on the map a long time ago and were doing it big back in 96-97. So if you are interested in seeing what some other pioneers are doing, definitely check them out.

Check out the track titled Let 'Em Know for a teaser.

I've been light on this board as of late... not to mention Street Level Records shutdown and they basically built the Notorious Northwest forum.

But mainly, it's me not being here as often.

And maybe Tadou took the fun away.

There's only so much talking you can do before finally giving up. People don't want to play along, and turn this forum into a place where we all learn about Copyrights, Publishing, Replication, etc etc. So instead, we can sit around talking about what slumpin project is about to come out, along with the 150 new myspace pages.

Part of me thinks that CEOs--and other people that are out there routinely raping artists and convincing them to do stupid shit--want to keep the artists uninformed (whats more frightening than an artist that knows how to handle all the paperwork on their own?); and others are just too oblivious/unmotivated to care (or in on it), and are here only to distract and gas-up artists; but hey...hyperactive mind at work. I'm sure its just a strange coincidence that Music Business threads get shoo'd away and routinely turned into flame-wars, while nonsense threads continue with relative impunity.

Theoretically speaking, of course.

A lot of times during dead times on the board, people take to nostalgic threads, focusing on the past, asking questions like "post your top 10 list" and what not. This obviously isn't doing a whole lot for contemporary shit but I do think those types of threads can enhance people's appreciation of a region, i.e. they might discover some outstanding projects from 1999 that they hadn't ever heard of.

This is the type of thing I can contribute, so I will make some threads like that in the next couple of weeks.
