I have done alot of research online and know there are other people who have gotten this letter. I just wanna see what everyone on heres views are of this warning letter. I do my far share of downloading, maybe 2 or 3 movies every couple of days(have a life and a family) but I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Anyhow what do you all think? I quit downloading anything illegal after this but alot of people telling me its a scare tactic and to not worry bout it. But I am not trying to risk shit.

"Dear Comcast High-Speed Internet Subscriber:

Comcast has received a notification by a copyright owner, or its authorized agent, reporting an alleged infringement of one or more copyrighted works made on or over Comcast's High-Speed Internet service (the 'Service'). The copyright owner has identified the Internet Protocol ('IP') address associated with your Service account at the time as the source of the infringing works. The works identified by the copyright owner in its notification are listed below. Comcast reminds you that use of the Service (or any part of the Service) in any manner that constitutes an infringement of any copyrighted work is a violation of Comcast's Acceptable Use Policy and may result in the suspension or termination of your Service account."

From what I remember, and I could be wrong, Comcast (and other ISP's) have an "agreement" or sorts with the MPAA that they will warn suspected users of infringing on copyrights, but take no further action. In other words, they would only attempt to scare you out of downloading rather than pursue any legal action. This was said to be the caser maybe a year ago, and that probably hasnt changed. Take that with a grain of salt.

I got a similar thing multiple times from COX in SD and my problem was when I was streaming it to my PS3 it seemed like I was sharing the copywritten files. They knew exactly what the file names were and once the specific ones were deleted I called back they verified they were deleted then they returned service. It was hella creepy they could access all that info so quickly.. Fast times at ridgemont high was one of the titles this happened on and they suspended my service immediately and also restored it immediately.

and utorrent for movies and frostwire for single songs and gigs in 2 weeks ehh maybe 15 or less depends on the movie scene at the time and life in general. Im not on all the time gettin movies like some i read who had like 60 movies queued up a night, I was like wow! and dude who said peerblock as well as peerguardian 2, both suck and dont work. Dont be fooled by that. the ironic part is i got the letter for checking out a sample cam copy of megamind. had file name and all in letter. I was like aint that a bitch, I get R5 and BRRips an dvdrips all the time an i get busted for checking out a cam sample lol.

Leave them the torrents alone and pay for a memberships to download nzb files. I know people who got that letter and never got one again after getting with the binaries. This is the best site ever http://www.scnsrc.net/ for downloads. But don't mess with the torrents you have do the nzb file and have a paid membership.

I had my internet shut off about 1-2 years back because I was sharing a scarface movie, I had to call Universal and they didn't give a fuck less but my excuse was I didn't have my modem locked so they turned it back on and I quit sharing and using torrents unless I need to get an older flick.

i taught my dad how to download torrents but told him to stop seeding as soon as the file was done. he didn't listen to me and got the letter and it scared him outta it. if i got the letter i'd probably stop too but my experience has told me that uploading is what gets you in trouble...

that's why I don't fuck with btjunkie or utorrent, frostwire is loaded with bots that work for the riaa ....

i use peerblock/peerguardian ..been using it for a very long time and it has worked.

Piratebay is more safer than utorrent and btjunkie since the servers are located in another country....

but you see..i only download movies from megaupload/gigasize URL's ... so I'm pretty much safe...
