its pretty straightforward. i dont like not being able to use the live sets in studio mode. theres some dope programs on there. im just going to have to record them to the sampler or something. maybe theres a way to do it but i havent gotten as deep into the manual as i need to yet.

if you record the midi data then sample itself through the machine you can use the live sets as one track instead of 2-8 like most of them are.

All Workstations are pretty straight forward as far as sequencing a track goes. Basic knowledge. I suggest you mess around with it more and actually read through the manual when needed and take your time to actually learn the interface. If you trade it in for a Motif, your going to run into the same issue, it's not an issue of the software it's an issue of being lazy and not willing to learn it.

Peace

Im getting to know it better. Ive had a classic motif for about 5 years now, the switch was funny just becuase I had no clue how to do stuff like fixed volocity on the fantom or how to quantize or change the length of a note but as I read the manual I learn more and Its really growing on my. The only thing I dont like about the fantom now is the drums. I mean I feel that the motif classic drums are much better but its all good becuase Im using my motif classic as a sound module for now so I still have all my old drums. But the sequencer on the new G is pretty sicc I really like how the sequencer compared to the motif. I think once I get my motif xs rack then Ill really be set with the sound and the sequencing power. Its a pretty nice board tho dont get my wrong. I really like it!!!

if you use software, hardware sequencers would be harder for you to catch on to unless youve used them before. programs like reason and fruity loops are well put together. when i made the switch from hardware to software, it was the simplicity and speed that i liked. reason was simply killing any workstation out there as far as storage, ease of use, access on the fly, etc... i like the fantoms new sequencer though, it actually comes closer to the ease and convenience of software programs than the other ones ive messed with, although it has its quirks and shortcomings. i started out on hardware so im legit either way. i can pick up anything and get something going in a short span of time regardless of what it is. whats nice is the fantom works as a soundcard and integrates with it so i can continue to use reason even without my mbox with ultra low latency. i figured it would be slow and useless and that i would need a soundcard but no its really functional to say the least. i havent tried the mic pres yet. anybody yet??? im curious how they sound and how useful or useless they may be.
