The San Francisco 49ers were notified by the NFL on Thursday that Walt Harris has been named to the NFC roster of the 2007 Pro Bowl. Harris replaces Philadelphia Eagles CB Lito Sheppard who is unable to participate due to injury.
This will be Harris’s first Pro Bowl appearance. The cornerback proved to be one of the best free agent acquisitions in the NFL, leading the team with a career-high six interceptions. The 11-year veteran from Mississippi State intercepted a career-high three passes against the Oakland Raiders (10-8-06), good for second in team history for a single game. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Harris was an opportunistic defender in the month of November, accounting for three interceptions in the 49ers four games. Harris also added 19 tackles and one forced fumble in November and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month.
He joins G Larry Allen and RB Frank Gore on the NFC Pro Bowl squad.
