Today I celebrate the 230th birthday of my beloved Marine Corps. I still have many close friends fighting for our country today overseas in Iraq. Some of these friends have departed on their missions, never to return home to their loving friends and families. These warriors make the ultimate sacrifice for our country and corps. They will never be forgotten.
Ironically today is also the 1 year anniversary of a friend of mines last day with us:
Marine Lance Cpl. Erick J. Hodges , 21, of Bay Point, California.
Hodges died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.
He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine
Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.
Died on November 10, 2004.
Please don't forget our fallen Marines and support our troops regardless of your opinion of this war.
Once a Marine, always a Marine!
Semper Fidelis,
US Marine Sgt. Raider Rick
