Instrumentals sound like Enya, the rhymes sound like Fred Durst.

shadow what happened you? this is the worst record i have heard in a long time. to paraphrase your own song "hip-hop sucks in 06". i cant believe how bad this is compared to endtroducing, private press, brainfreeze, product placement etc. doesnt even deserve 1 star

I read the reviews and thought it couldn't be that bad. It really is, what a load of rubbish. Enough said.
By disaster in a bottle (Boulder, CO) - See all my reviews If deaf people have anything going for them, it's that they will never ever have to listen to this abortion of an album. I have no idea what happened to DJ Shadow, but this album sounds like Lil Jon raped him with the Crunk Cup. Shadow must have composed this album between bathroom breaks while suffering from chronic diarrhea, there is a real lack of effort. I am actually so dumbfounded by this production that I probably would've gotten more value from my money by actually buying a bag of fecal matter.

so dj shadow thinks he appeals to the masses in his small culture with his incredibly immature tunes here. that's fine, but please don't use your name to try to sell albums all over the world. he is prostituting himself i believe. stop it. it is embarassing. do not buy this album if you like music. i will never buy a dj shadow album again.

I cannot put into words how sad this makes me. I have so much history listening to shadow.....and now this. Please don't do this again. Please

Overall, this CD sounds like it was begun by DJ Shadow, the real DJ Shadow, or at least what his sound used to be, & then he was abducted by space aliens & they inserted a commercially viable bio-duplicate to just quickly poop out 5 radio friendly tracks. Don't worry, I read Shadows URB interview, he told everyone that he was tired of being stereotyped as a backpacker DJ & wanted to hear his music on the radio & from the IPOD's of 13 year olds instead of 30 year olds.

Exactly how much crack did Dj Shadow have to smoke to release this album with his name on it?
New direction, September 21, 2006 By M. Porter "spikep" (Washington DC) - See all my reviews
Shadow said he was going in a new direction but this is more like he ran off the road and hit a tree. There is no creativity to this new work. It's lacking a soul. The beats are lame at best. I love all of his music up to this point. Hopefully his next album will not sound anything like this.
ho is this imposter and what has he done with DJ Shadow?, September 20, 2006 By Shane Carpenter "sh6ne" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Let me start off by saying that I don't take any pleasure in writing this review...
I can honestly say without hyperbole that this is the worst album I have ever purchased, and moreover, that this is most disappointed I have ever been with an album.
Let me tell you potential buyers how terrible this really album is... I won't attempt to resell this album to a DJ Shadow fan because I would feel guilty. I wont do to them, what DJ Shadow did to me. Im going to throw this album away and pray that this experience wont take DJ Shadow down a notch in my memory.

How can an artist not care about his audience? I own all his records as well, but this reminds me of when Wayne Newton decided to put out a heavy metal album?? Whats next your going to team up John Tesh and Yanni? Come on Josh, put the pipe down and get back to business,

This has got to be the most ego-induced pretentious album I have ever heard. Building up to its release, Shadow wrote in his online digest that he doesn't care if he loses any fans and this album will make it very difficult for anyone to imitate his style. My question is... what style? This "music" is so derivative and bland not to mention unorganized, especially compared to Shadow's past immaculately produced compositions that I seirously do wonder if it is even the same meticulous artist producing this album.
