Activision have unveiled a new website for Guitar Hero 5, in the process confirming not only that the game is returning to a numbered title, but that it has a ballsy new release date.

And that date is September 1. Cocky! You may have heard, a certain other music title is due out in early September. One that features the Beatles.

Something tells me that the market isn't big enough for both those games. Retail shelves probably aren't, either. We've got ourselves a plastic instrument showdown here, folks, and my money's on the one starring the most popular band of all time.

Those that are still planning on picking up the fifth title in the series, know that the lineup of confirmed artists appearing in the game now includes:

The Rolling Stones
The White Stripes
Kings of Leon
Tom Petty
Bob Dylan
Johnny Cash
Santana
Vampire Weekend
Beatie Boys
Coldplay
Duran Duran
Gorillaz
Jimmy Eat World
Muse
The Raconteurs

Naw the Guitar Hero 5 will most likely win because even though the Beatles are BIG they are still your mom and dads group. Unless mom and dad are going to play it the Artists like would depend on the Kids. I myself grew up more on or hear more the ones listed for 5.

i wont be buying either of these though. i have like 650+ songs on my rock band, that more than enough to hold me over for the rest of my life.

not a huge beatle fan and i wont ever buy a guitar hero product ever again because of all the problems i had with their drums

I ain't buying shit until, I see a lineup I like. So far Guitar Hero Metallica is on my list when the price drops during thanksgiving probably. I heard their extra pedal on the drums are useless. Its all good I can wait.
The 2 pedals is dope. I like it. I play double bass on my real set so it feels more natural for me on faster parts. I even use the double bass on rock band. Not useless at all
