I knew about that over a month ago.
What a poor excuse for the UFC to not have GSP nor Penn fight Hughes. GSP's 4th fight as a #1 contender (Can't believe this is possible). Penn holds the real belt (left for the same reason Ortiz did). Royce is over 40 years old and came to the UFC because his contract with Pride fell through. Obviously looking for a payday.

Lackluster fight. The undercard better be good.

So Royce is over the hill? I haven't seen him fight except for the first 5 UFCs, and he was insane back then. I was figuring that it would either be fight of the year or a 1st rd. TKO by Hughes. Good to know that this fight isn't worth buying if the card isn't worth it, thanks homie.
I'm guessing GSP has the winner of this though. And if somehow Royce wins, Pierre is going to kill him, literally lol. But I really want to see Hughes vs. GSP

edit** So what's the Ultimate Fighter weight limits going to be? Anyone heard? I saw that Shamrock and Ortiz are the coaches.

i will agree with that, hughes is my favorite fighter but everyone should be scared of GSP right now. especially the way he's been handlin people since he lost to hughes by lettin that submission slip in. im exited to see the rich franklin vs the crow fight too. them canadiens is fuckin it up right now. they did skip st pierre or bj penn to fight hughes though. especially since penn was the last to beat hughes b4 he left to fight in hawaii. i hope forest whips tito's ass, prolly not but i think tito is a bitch

i think you should reconsider maybe having fighters like

Vanderlai Silva
Ricardo Arona
Mauricio Shogun Hua
Rampage Jackson

ahead of hughes

i think he is right. he is too old and too slow. only chance he has is on the ground.

saw him fight twice in Pride and lost both fights.

lost to Yoshida by submission (got robbed though) and to Sakaraba had to quit as his leg was injured badly.

True its been rumored for awhile now, but you have to think about it from UFC's perspective. Royce vs Hughes is going to be a huge draw for them, probably be one of their biggest PPV's ever, and would be much more successful than either Hughes vs Penn/GSP (if he beat Karo, which who he was supposed to fight in March/April before this). Combine that with the fact that Royce isn't getting any younger, and the UFC is wise to get this match done before he gets much older. Another benefit of this match for the UFC is it will likely draw the attention of the casual fan or someone who used to watch it years ago who is likely to assume "that Gracie guy" is going to beat that no name he is fighting, when in fact its pretty safe to assume Hughes beats him easily, thus making him more appealing and creating an even more alluring fight between him and the winner of Penn/GSP. And LA Dodgers you must have missed the past year of Pride, Rampage's stock has dropped big time with the beatings he has taken and its likely Pride doesn't resign him after his next fight which is supposed to happen next month.

Matt Hughes will fuck Gracie up, I haven't seen Gracie fight a really solid fight in like 6 years. I quit watching Gracie fights after he quit in between rounds against Sakuraba, shit if they wanna bring a legend in to fight Matt Hughes they should bring in Sakuraba. Sakuraba is a submission machine, he don't fuckin quit, plus it almost seems like Sakuraba don't feel pain sometimes.

Answer and comment on a few things. This season on the ultimate fighter is set to start filming in the next week or so, the weights are 185 and 205. Got a buddy thats on the show. GSP has Penn in the US vs. Canada UFC coming up, were the winner will fight Hughes. I can see how it is a good move from Dana's view. He doesnt risk to much with Royce and Hughes. If for some reason Royce does win, its non tittle. It would look bad though. GSP is pretty much the #1 contender, Penn was the champ that never lost, put them together and get your true #1 contender. I know they are trying to get the sport a little more mainstream, and they have been doing a good job but, I think instead of dropping a million on Royce you could spend it in many other ways to boost the UFC.

i said I THINK which means its my opinion. it is also my opinion that GSP will beat hughes when they fight again if he beats penn. as i said, its my OPINION. you obviously have yours. i was speaking mainly about the UFC not pride or K1 or anything else. ive seen all that you mentioned except arona fight. thanks for the insight though. unfortunately they dont brodcast pride as often as ufc over here so i dont get a chance to see it as much, but good lookin

Royce still stands a good chance. I don't think he will get dominated like the majority of the people think.

Standing up it's pretty even. Hughes stand up stinks. Both Penn and GSP took him standing up, they dominated him standing up actually. So did Sakurai at UFC 36 (I was there live).

On the ground, I give it to Royce unless Hughes has the full mount.

I just don't think it will be as easy as Hughes and the majority of fans think.

This is a hard fight to call. Royce aint the same Royce as in the early UFC days, and Matt is prone to submissions. Im looking foward to the Penn vs St Pierre fight. St Pierre is on a roll right now and Penn always suprises me when he fights. I think a lot of people under estimate how great a fighter BJ Penn is.

He is just hard to call. He will KO Caol Uno in 15 seconds, and then go 3 rounds with him and win a close one the next. He will submit Matt Hughes, and then look like crap in his next two fights. It's really whether or not Penn brings his "A" game. GSP has been on point and he will definately bring his "A" game and Penn better bring his.
