so i made it over the 3 phone interviews for a new hotel opeing on the strip for a line cook job...came home told my pops today to find out were having money problems...my father who always have been there to help me through everything i needed even helped me with my daughter supporting me tells me this..my mother who passed 3 yrs ago left us the life insurance money and her 401k..to find out that life insurance paid off are house and her 401k is spent and gone..on various bills and paying my school off...so saturday the hr guy wants me to go down there and take a look..my father who wants me to pursue my dream told me to go and he will give me 50 to be down there and come back.....my problem is...if i get the job do i stay or leave..my father said he would be ok he wants me to be successful in life...but my problem and it hurts me deeply...i cant leave my father to do it all bymyself...offers dont come like this everyday but blood is thicker than water.....wut would yall do.......

Get in somewhere where you can be productive. If it isn't where you are now, go to where you can give support, other than emotional support ($).

knaw pops aint going to move to vegas hes working...he works like 70 hours a week in the oilfields...plus i have a older brother that lives here to.....but yea i aint doin shit out here thats what he said...he said when he gets his checks there gone instantly bills and shit...so im helping him cutdown on bills doing everything i can..any little things..lights plugged in fans on..tvs on
I think you have to do it man. If you don't you will be stuck where you are now. Who doesn't want to do better? You can help your dad and even drag him with later. There ain't shit for you in Bakersfield man. Besides you went to school for this shit, and there are no fine dining restaurant and hotels around your area.
no i havent quit drinking.i know this is my one oppourtunity to do this...ive done nonthin but sit on my ass for a yr and watch my dad go through wut he went through in 23 yrs hes helped me...good lookin on yall for the advice..i know i will never be able to pay my father back nor my mother r.i.p who made it possible and belived in my dream
I would suggest taking the job. You can always quit and move home if you decide it sucks. It will be tuff to be away from family but after a year or two of real world experience at a vegas hotel you will be a step above the competition back at home if you decide you want to move back. If it's a new hotel opening you would be getting in on the ground floor and assuming it takes off you would be OG status in a short amount of time if you decided to stay. Jobs are in short supply so opportunities should be taken advantage of when they present themselves.
