I consider AFI more punk/hardcore then gothic......I guess now people would consider 'em gothic because of there videoz an shit but check out some of there older shit.......east bay hardcore...
same with The Distillers more punk then gothic but I could see where they could be considered that...

Also if your into hornz/punk check out The Hippos - Heads Are Gonna Roll. I seen these guyz play with The Bloodhound Gang a few yearz back and there pretty good. They used to play them on ESPN all the time during some of there extreme showz...

Nick Cave is the father of the gothic movement. Dark and lyrical, without the vampire bullshit of modern goth. Go on to Kazaa and d/l the song UP JUMPED THE DEVIL or the album MURDER BALLADS. Thinking man's music. Or check out his first band, THE BIRTHDAY PARTY for the most abrasive post punk goth ever created.
