Theres a few sick 3D appz but they are not easy to learn at least not for me. Some of the best work Ive seen was done by 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, 4D Cinema, Maya, SoftImage XSI, Truespace, Rhino, and Canoma (Metacreations no longer sells this) but I have all of those except SoftImage XSI and I have Z Brush, World Builder, Director, Poser, Carrara and Vue D Esprit, Deep Paint 3D,Mojo World Combustion,Plasma and Bryce and even a few more but I cant remember them all. And most of them I just use for converting from one file format to a more universal file like obj. or 3ds. or dxf. because most of them are just to complex and some have a proprietary lingo. But I think it depends on what kind of 3d you want to do. Like Ulead Cool 3D does some cool 3d and animated text effects but really not much else. And I like Bryce but it only does 3d landscape shit but for that I now use VueDEsprit this program is sick and the first time you use it you can be making sick 3d landscape images. Terragen is another realistic landscape app thats even free but it doesnt give you much fredom in it. And another example is Canoma was only for str8 lines 3d like interior shit tables or buildings shit with str8 lines. And I thought Deep Paint 3D and Z Brush were useless but thats why I say it depends on what kind of 3d you want to do G.But my favorite is probably Poser its fun and easy to use but it cant do what 3D Studio Max and the rest can either but then again niether can I on those programs they are fucking hard and not self explanatory. But Poser is boring unless you have lots and lots of aftermarket plug ins it wont be as cool. I have like 6 gigs (hundreds) of plug ins for Poser and then you have to learn how to install the plug ins there time consuming.

the kinda 3D Im trying to do is the type where you can draw anything you want from scratch. Whether its people, backgrounds, buildings, etc. I apologize for not being clear the first time.

I dont know of one that does all that. Are maybe I just dont know how to do it in the appz I have. Because it sounds like your talkin about going from 2d to 3d I dont know how you could do that because most 3d shit deals with textures rendering and being able to spin models in 360 degres. But if you find one let me know.

If you were talkin to me. I used mostly Poser. Poser deals mostly with humans or animals well any 3d model you want to import. Its super easy to learn. Its just knowin what you want (as far as plug ins) But those other programs we mentioned (3D Studio Max/Lightwave etc.) are crazy difficult and I think you need to go to school to master those appz. But if your gonna purchase software get at me first and for a GOOD DEAL Ill hook you the FUCK UP with 3D software I have all kinds of software OG video editing shit music appz etc. Just for Poser I has 5 or 6 gigz of plug inz. You gotta have lots of hard drive space though and a decent processor to render the pics.
