Spotscenter been killin me with the amount of Golf coverage. I know the NFL is in the off season, but come on baseball just started and the NBA is about to hit the playoffs. I'm not much of a fan of either the NBA or MLB anymore, but I'd much rather see a double play than some white dude make an eagle or turkey or whatever they call em.

I guess I understand the appeal for people to want to play golf, but I can't for the life of me understand why you would want to watch it?

At least Hockey makes for decent highlights.

Racing coverage other than Nascar would be cool too.

They've got to be under pressure from their advertisers though. Since the upper-middle and upper class play golf and spend money they must want to see golf highlights. Probably helps that the advertisers, programmers, and sportscasters are all golfers too.

Maybe my perspective is off, but is Golf really that popular compared to other major sports? Anyone have any number break downs on sports popularity in the U.S. ?

^^^I agree, at least they gave us all the upcoming topics though. I used to hate when I would want to see certain highlights but never knew when they were coming so I would end up watching the whole damn show.

Golf has been talked about so much lately because it was the Masters, the biggest tournament of the year. Don't worry though with Tiger being out for 4-6 weeks and no major tournaments coming up golf will go back to it's 90 seconds of highlights and that's it.

What's worse golf highlights or Nascar?

how many left turns can you make? apparently 500 miles worth! hahahahah nascar < golf!

tiger might be the best athlete on the planet. he dominates his sport like no other sport has been ever. jordan in basketball is maybe 1/4 of what tiger is to golf. and thats game play and any other topic in comparison. so when tigers playing, he is usually chasing some sort of history. i dont mind the coverage.

and for the record, cold beer and golf = pimp shit!

Golf because there are no catastrophic accidents or injuries – at least Nascar has that. Otherwise Golf is the same as Nascar there is no such thing as a highlight. Unless someone hits a hole in one there is no highlight. Unless a car crashes there is no highlight. Unless the golfer kills a bird with his ball there is no highlight. Unless the drivers get into a fight in the pits there is no highlight.

Watching some guy put on a green jacket is not highlight worthy. Watching a car cross a finish line is not highlight worthy.

Nah, this shit was going on long before masters week. It just reached precipice because of masters week.

Turn on PTI or Around The Horn and nearly every day there is some golf bullshit on there, not just Sportscenter.

They had a double whammy with that dude from VT that won the armature and got to play in the masters. Golf & capitalize off an extraordinary tragedy - can't get any better for ESPN that's almost some Fox News caliber shit right there.

"Holy sensationalism Batman!"

I think it also may have to do with the fact that golf season is starting, you know? Courses are opening up around the country, and people are ready to go out there and beat a ball around the course, so they want to see it on ESPN, want to see Tiger, want to see the Masters...so they can go out there with Eye Of The Tiger playing in their head and try to sink a 84 foot chip shot.

LOL

Ahhhhh...pobrecito. Did you really get so upset because I made a sexist joke that your opinion of me changed so dramatically?

What a joke.

Here, maybe this will make you feel better:

Not only is Lorena Ochoa an incredible golfer, one of the greatest (of either sex) in this point and time, but I would bend her over on the 14th at Augusta and enjoy it, while marking my (golf) balls.

Don't get so offended by a joke on the internet; like I said, it was sarcasm at people's lack of respect for any sport they cannot understand, excell at, or even afford to play. LOL
