WASHINGTON -- Spring breakers prepare -- that trip to Mexico requires a passport.

The State Department is recommending that those flying out to sun-drenched Mexican beaches start by filling out a passport application. Last year's massive backlog has since cleared out, but the State Department is putting passports at the top of its list of advice for spring breakers.

A reminder about the passport requirement for Americans traveling in and out of the U.S. by air is ahead of warnings on drugs and alcohol, sexual assault and robbery in the department's annual guide for spring breakers.

if youre in mexico longer than 8 days you need a passport.
and technically you can just lie and still pass through.

edit: oh i seen what you said, yeah but thats always been the case...that law aint new..but im an sd native we just cross the border..dunno what it would be like to have to fly in, id just stay in sd and travel into mexico that way.
