Ok, since I have to send in my ticket soon, I should ask if any one knows if this works.

I heard from a number of people that one way to get out of a speeding ticket is to send it in with a check five dollars over the amount the ticket is for. Then when they send you back a check for the remaining amount, do not cash it. Since you never cash the check, the case is never closed and your insurance company never finds out.

Does any one know if this is true? If so have you personally used this technique?

Thanx,
Ric

i doubt it. i kno out here in atlanta, if u get a ticcet and lets say it's for $100, then you hav an option 2 pay out of court. if u do, then u gotta pay tha whole thang, but if u appear in court, then tha judge usually drops it to like $20 or shum. fold.

nope, never heard of that. If you go to court over it and the cop that gave you the ticket doesn't show up alot of the time they will take your word over his(since he isn't there) and close the case. But if he shows up you most likely won't get out of it.

how it works here is the cop gives you a ticket and then a month or so later you get a paper saying you have to go to court and it gives the amount you have to pay. If you don't go to court they can send a bench warrent out on you. And then when you go to court if you don't have all the money needed, the judge will just set up a payment plan. I don't think you can get out of it. Best bet, just pay it and get them out of your hair.

Believe it or not, I have heard of this. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but if I ever get another ticket I will. It can't hurt, it's only $5
