GREELEY - The teen accused of killing a 7-year-old girl while acting out the videogame "Mortal Kombat" pleaded not guilty in court Friday.
Lamar Roberts, 17, is charged with child abuse resulting in death.
Prosecutors say he hit, kicked, and ultimately killed Zoe Garcia in December of 2007.
They say he and Garcia's half-sister, Heather Trujillo, 17, were imitating "Mortal Kombat," a videogame the couple played together.
Trujillo was sentenced in July for her role in Garcia's death.
She received an 18-year suspended prison sentence. As part of a plea deal, Trujillo will spend six years in a youth offender program.
At Friday's hearing, the judge said the trial for Roberts will begin on Jan. 12, 2009.
Roberts is due back in court for another hearing on October 7th.
