I think it's important for new artists to get their region popping first and make an impact in their region before trying to expand all over. No-one is going to reinvent the wheel.
Why? Theres only so many artists a regional market can take, and we all know the bay been saturated. If you can take it somewhere else and make your money there, why not do it? What the fuck does regional success matter anyway? Either you limit yourself to your area your whole career, or when you really blow up, 9 times out 10 your whole region will be hatin on you.

i need to get on sac radio, hola at bern, for those who said my thread was old news, its new to me and im just tryin to put everyone on with the market, especialy new artist, anyone got the plug in japan?
its always good to market your music to places that other artists wouldn't think of going into. thats something dre used to to. he would go to the places where a lot of rappers would never think of going and do shows there and people loved it - im sure a lot of his sales came from those places. not to say you dont target your own area but you gotta think outside the box. If your only going to be pushing your records in the bay then u missin out on a lot of money. if germany is feelin it then get it out there. i feel like countries around the world listen to american music so why not take adavantage of it? shit i know i would.
you cant be ignorant to the fact that people love music in one spot theyll like it somewhere else !! if you know about ratios and probability, i mean how many people like the radio bs, and how crappy that is now if they all listened to the good bay stuff like they do on a comercial level then bam!! its all about the promotion!!
I was just throwing my 2 cents in. I think it's great to get overseas sales and all that eventually. I just think when you're new on the scene you gotta earn your spot in your own hood, city, and area first and foremost.
Then expand out. Again I don't expect you marketing wizards to feel me.
