I seriously appreciate that comment more than you may think Homie. The sentimental/deep tracks you refer to are like the ones on my old album. I poured out my heart & soul into that album, it was a real personal album for me (the entire album was real, from start to finish). On this new one, I feel I let go of all that. I carried the weight & unleashed my anger, depression etc etc. on "Casualties Of Life."
On this new one "Walking Tall" I'm just having fun (hence: The Good Times That Follow). The new album is a complete 360* from the old one. More upbeat, not as dark, angry, depressing as the previous one. I can understand somebody resenting towards it. The new album comes out of left field on those that expect something simular to the old one.
The song "Baby Boy" (Walking Tall) touches basis on the old album. That song picks up where the previous album left off (the answer to what happend after "Casualties"). A more heart felt, real topic type song. Although, "Walking Tall" has it's street life/Gangstafied moments it also has something for everybody (radio cuts etc etc) & with the song "Baby Boy", I feel I didn't leave my fans hanging.
That's how I'm feeling about this new one. I'm expanding a little more & it's really up to those that wish to free their mind, forget about the past & take that ride with me.
And if people don't feel this new one because they expected another "Casualties" album, well, as an artist I have to take that at a proffessional stance and bite the bullet.
