THOSE TRACKS ARE HARD AS FUCK TOO. IS THERE ANY MORE THAN THOSE 4 SONGS? DUDE WAS WAY BETTER THAN ANYONE OLD SCHOOL LIKE CUBE ...
Wow that is a bold statement... have you ever listened to Death Certificate... not heard, but actually listened to it? Cube touches on so many different topics depicting life in the pre-Rodney King-riot era of South Central LA... I wouldn't be surprised if it will be material for college classes in the future!
Granted, Gangsta Ern didn't live long enough to make any material other than that which depicted his rambo-like escapades at the Mexican border.... along with other life threatening activities, which ultimately led to his demise... Gangsta Ern was by all acocunts was the real deal... In an era of those who rap before becomming the gangsta, Gangsta Ern was a gangsta long before ever picking up a mic... this makes the simplicity of some of his lyrics easily excusable...
To sum it up lyrically: Cube > Gangsta Ern
To sum it up production wise?
I believe that production wise - the tracks on Gangsta Ern's "Up Against It" were easily as good as Cube's pre-LA riot work... possibly better... but not "way better"... It would be unfair to compare the two because of Gangsta Ern's lack of an extensive catalog...
On a final note, I wouldn't consider Snoop as old school... I'd say the old school LA scene eneded with the LA riots... and that "187 on an Underover Cop" actually hearalded a new era of West Coast rap...
Just my opinion... over here at work killin' time....
What y'all think?
