FYI: For the cost of 1 US soldier in Iraq we can send 35-40 students to college

Source? I've been to Iraq, I received my normal base pay plus $250 a month in hazard duty pay and $250 a month in combat pay. Didn't get any extra gear, only went with the gear I always had. All I can maybe think of is paying people to work in the chow halls we ate at?

Don't see how 3 meals a day and an extra $500 a month for a year is sending 30 people to college....

lights and water is something the soldier would've been using at his duty station anyway whether or not he's in Iraq or stateside in Ft. Bragg, Ft. Hood, or where every he's from. The soldier deploys with the same rifle he's issued stateside. Every duty station i've been too I deployed with the same rifle I had for years and I high doubt bullets cost 20,000-30,000 dollars of tuition for 40 people for only 1 soldier in a year. (Especially considering that maybe 5% of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are actually firing their rifles)
