What do you consider a classic album? Classic albums change the landscape of hiphop, Reasonable Doubt didn't do anything except solidify that Jay's nice when he wants to be. I'm not biased because Jay-Z is one of my favorite rappers but illmatic is a classic, so is The Chronic, Straight Outta Compton, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Paid in Full, Ready 2 Die and Me Against the World. See what I mean, what they all got in common is they changed the landscape of the game. Reasonable doubt is on the same level as Marshall Mathers LP and All Eyes On Me. I think people start thinking Reasonable Doubt was a classic when Jay-Z's popularity boosted because before then everyone was level headed enough to know that the cd was nice but not ledgendary. It is though in my personal top 5. Just speakin off my head, don't mind me. continue.

Well the times have changed and so have their ways... adapting to the trend of making wack ass music.

Sucks cause then you got people looking at these doodes as pivotol and what not but in reality they fell off a long time ago.

Early-mid 1990s east coast rap > early-mid 1990s west coast rap.

The west coast more or less rode the coattails of The Chronic and Doggystyle and a few artists put out some good to decent albums in that timeline and then fell the fuck off (I'm talking mainstream wise of course.)

The east coast put out dope albums that whole period.

And now, we have the south to thank for the current state of rap. I mean are there some great southern MC's? Of course, but 75% of the shit that comes from down there is crap. Then again so is 75% of all rap that comes out today I guess. So maybe nevermind my statement about the south, except that they started off the era of garbage rap we now live in.

Then again this is all just my opinion.

So where are the Fu Schnickens from??? East Coast brought Garbage rap along with good albums.....just like the South is now.. and the West Did....
I didn't say there wasn't some garbage ass groups/album in that period from the east coast did I? But the ratios are incomparable.
