Now more then ever, the new trend is for mainstream hip hop, and the paid record labels to reach into our beloved underground and take one of our artists and blow them up.

SO Tell me.....How do ya'll feel when your favorite MC crosses over?

just some examples:

TWISTA

EIGHTBALL and MJG

BABY BEESH

LIL' FLiP

wish i could say eminem

lyrically he was damn near UNTOUCHABLE when he was underground... back in 97/98

the following is one of the ILLEST raps i've ever heard

It's only fair to warn, I was born with a set of horns
And metaphors attached to my dang umbilical cord
Warlord of rap that'll bash you with a two by four board
And smash into your Honda Accord with a four door Ford
But I'm more toward droppin' an acapella
To chop a fella to mozzarella worse than a helicopter propeller
Got chu' locked in a cellar with your skeleton showin'
Developin' anorexia while I'm standin' next to ya
Eatin' a four-course meal watchin' you starve to death
Put a IV in ya vein feedin' ya liquid Darvaset
Pumpin' you full of drugs
Pull the plugs on a gunshot victim full of bullet slugs
Who were picked up by an ambulance and driven to receiving
With they asses ripped out of they pants
And given a less than twenty percent chance of livin'
Havin' a possible placement as a hospital patient
Storin' the dead bodies in grandma's lil' basement
Doctor Kevorkian has arrived to perform an autopsy
On you while you scream "I'm still alive"
Drivin' a rusty scalpel through the top of ya scalp
I'm pullin' ya Adam's apple out through ya mouth
Better call the fire department, I've hired an arsonist
To set fire to carpet and burn up your entire apartment

man i'd like to see immortal technique rip everyone in the commercial game, he's definately an underground legend or on his way at least, i can't wait for his 3rd album to drop, but big L would definately be on that list (if not he already is) if he didn't get killed, supposedly he was on his way to roc-a-fella before he got killed

But is this a good thing for the artist?

Yea they're feeding their family finally getting their propers, but as far as their creativity and credibility, is it a positive thing?

Cuz TWISTA also for me was a hard as it gets, and now that he's on MTV everyday I dont feel the same, I've kind of abondoned ship with him, cuz he's movin into a new direction and mixing it up with pop artists and everything, not to say its a bad thing, or that he SOLD OUT, but I'm not feeling him anymore, and this happens ALL the time.

I thought the same thing, like TWISTA should be goin platinum, I wish I could turn on the radio and hear a song by him. But now that everytime I turn on the Radio its not only TWISTA but a different MAINSTREAM/RADIO--TWISTA, Im not with it.

AND Baby beesh been in the game for a minute and blew up HARD thats why its relevant to the topic, i dont see why its so funny, he's been on all the underground chicano cats albums.

But does everyone change their style to get into the spotlight, eventhough that new style isn't what got them noticed?

It's like once a rapper crosses over they lose their soul.

Just like most of yall I have mixed feelings about it , I'm glad to see him finally get some of the recognition that he deserved to get back in the days with Adrenaline Rush and his other shit, but its like some artists like Twista and 8Ball & MJG dont get the shine they deserve until they have an affiliation with someone like Puffy or Jay Z and by now they could have been in the same position with label deals for theirself

but in all I'm happy to see them succeed years ago when I 1st moved to Memphis nobody could have told me that Three 6 was gonna blow the way they did
