this is regarding my eBay auction:

LINK: BOM - The Reala Ride (CD eBay Auction)
(bidders from my other auctions may be targets too)

i recently had a Bay Area Rap Tape/CD auction on eBay that ended earlier this week. now i understand why some sellers want to keep their auctions "private" where you cant see who is bidding.

Siccness member CashFlow420 (also 2nd Highest Bidder on my BOM auction) informed me that he got a couple suspicious emails from somebody trying to give him a "2nd Chance Offer" outside of eBay. here are the emails he got from this Fraudulent Seller....

1st SUSPICIOUS EMAIL
(sent to CashFlow420)

Dear Sir,
Please excuse me for this unexpected messege.
I am the seller of the " B.O.M. "The Reala Ride" (CD OG 1995) Bay Area BOM "
Item number: 180110939777
Price: US$ 135.00
I' ve just been contacted by the eBay staff who informed me that the winner of the item I sold ,withdrew his bidding and was rejected due to security reasons(either failed to follow through on the purchase commitment or outright refused to do so).The eBay policy automatically proclaims you to be the winner by default. Nevertheless,I need your agreement on this so I may contact eBay to confirm you the winning position, otherwise,I'll relist the item.I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I need an answer asap. Your last auctioned bid prior to being outbid is taken into consideration. The price will be your last bid !

GIVE ME AN URGENT REPLY IF YOU WANT TO GO AHEAD OR NOT!!!
Thank you !

2nd SUSPICIOUS EMAIL (sent to CashFlow420)

Hello,

You have the opportunity to purchase this item at your bid price . The
ex winner had some problems and couldn't handle the situation (he told
me something about his daughter being sick), so following eBay's
suggestion, I've contacted you this way.The deal will go strictly
according to eBay's rules and policy
regarding to this second chance offer- to start the official
transaction, I need to know your details:

eBay user ID:
Full name and address:
Phone number:
Item number#:

As soon as I have them I'll start the official procedure, and eBay
will notify you about this. You'll also receive important guidelines +
instructions from them (please go through them exactly).I'll handle
the shipping, so this will be free of charge for you + I am willing to
deduct you with the fee for handling the payment procedure. Also, a
refund policy will be included.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards!

Did anybody else on here bid on any of my auctions and get these emails? my eBay seller name is djremarkable21xl by the way. what should i do and how do i find out who this guy is? i dont want this fucker to ruin my seller reputation by ripping-off my other bidders by offering them fake 2nd Chance Offers. i wonder how many other bidders got the email and really sent him money. if they get cheated, then they might really think its me who is cheating them.

FUCK - i dont know what to do. this guy(s) is gonna fuck it up for me.

any suggestions?

That's EXACTLY why my auctions are set on private.. I am a huge second chance offer user as well so it helps me as a seller to avoid other potential sellers trying to sell the same shit as me at the buyer's bid price when I can offer it myself ya know..

If you have their e-mail address, try searching the e-mail thru ebay.. If you are successfuly, you can find out their eBay username.

^^^yeah, NOW i feel for those sellers who use Private Auctions. i never experienced this myself before so now im gonna start setting my new auctions as Private auctions to avoid this kind of bullshit.

i forgot you can search user ids with peoples emails. CashFlow420 hasnt got back to me yet with that person's email so im gonna have to wait til he responds so i can try to track this guy down

This was very strange indeed, I ended up contacting DJxREMARKABLE directly because I actually though it was him who I was talking to. After figuring out that in fact someone was trying to scam me I thought it was quite funny. I do see why people set their auctions to private, I may contemplate doing the same to mine. Here is all the info I was able to cut and paste

cashflow, you should report that person to ebay. they should be able to track down their username from that email address, at least i think. then again there are times when i think ebay doesn't give a damn about their members as long as they get their money. i really need to get my future auctions private...

BEWARE BEFORE READING! DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK IN THIS POST!!!! IT'S A FAKE LINK THAT WILL ALLOW "THE OTHERS" TO HACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT!

I've gotten an e-mail the other day from a supposedly eBay member asking why I left them a negative feedback. It's quite common for me to leave negative because I have done so many times before to non-paying buyers and one legged idiots. So I responded and asked them what their username on ebay was so that I can explain the reason for the negative feedback. Then that person responds with this:

From: "Joe Flores" <[email protected]>
To: <[email protected]>
Subject: Re: negative feedback !
Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2007 08:21:20 -0700

follow the link.
you will see it all there.
please help me save my reputation

(BEWARE Don't click on this link. If you do, don't enter your eBay user ID & Password)

From the e-mail that cashflow got, it appears it is coming from the same group, "The Others." If they gave you a link that makes you log in your eBay account and you used it.. then you are fucked! The Dharma Initiative has got you! LOL!

As you know.. many of these phishing bastards target high priced buyers and power sellers! They know they have money so they will try as much as possible to get some cheese off them! I've gotten a bunch of phishing e-mails during the past 2-3 weeks. These bastards are trying real hard to break me off my bread.. I'm afraid that one day I will fall for one of them. They change every damn time and look more and more legit! I've gotten fake ass paypal receipts stating I paid someone, but the address in the receipt is someone else's. I guess that phishing e-mail is supposed to get you all excited to where you use their link in that e-mail to log in your paypal account to see what's going on. Before you know it, your child support money is long gone. I'm tellin ya tho, there are more legitimate looking ones nowadays!

BTW, don't trust any GMAIL e-mail accounts!

i noticed after my last good auction the fake ebay emails came at me like crazy all of a sudden, you're right, they look totally legit now too but still i just delete everything and check my paypal acct now & then to see if there is any cases open or against me there. i can see how it would be harder to keep track of the winners for some of you that list 100 or more at a time though.

one way to tell if the link is fake is the address it goes to will be different than the actual addy it shows. hard to explain but on firefox on macs if you put the mouse over the link, it'll show the link addy on the bottom of the window

i tried tracking those email addresses on ebay and it didnt show any users

i use to get alot of those fake emails a while back saying that there were problems with my account and that i need to update it. then the links use to take me to ebay's sign-on screen that looked hella shady.

what would happen to a seller/buyer if somebody hacked into their eBay account?

my brother got scammed once, as soon as he signed in with his password (on the fake link they sent), he couldn't sign into ebay cuz they changed the password, and his acct had a whole mess of listings. also all those listings were gonna be billed to him still since it's his acct and after he called ebay and sorted it all out, he found it it was already a hundred something that was gonna be billed to him.
