i guess this is a good possibility. i think it could be good for oakland, as long as he is healthy. frank thomas is probably a hall of famer depending on how his career ends. what y'all think ?

i think its great. a right handed DH with some pop, just what they needed. if he can stay healthy, it'll be a great addition, and i cant wait to see him play. i never thought he would have been an Athletic. what this means though is that Dan Johnson will take over at first, and Swisher will return to the outfield, most likely right, since they're both gonna play all the time. then kotsay and bradley will have the other spots, but that means that either kielty or payton most likely will be traded, and the other would be a fourth OF. they both just re-signed contracts with the A's though. the a's are seriously gonna make a world series run.

Thomas is done, injuries will catch up with him
He hit 12 home runs in 100 AB's last season when he was hurt... He's been cleared by doctors for this season... It's worth the risk.

I think it would be a good pickup for the A's. With the addition of Bradley as well, the A's should have a little more pop in the line up

Not just injuries, but there's amphetamine testing this year... Reports have talked about entire teams spiking their coffee, players handing them out like candy, etc. The A's beat writer, Mychael Urban, said that he talked to someone he was close to and they said "I don't know what we're gonna do" after they were banned. I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of players were using these last year... I think this is gonna hit teams a lot harder than anyone is expecting...

^^Yeah Denny Neagle had an interview on Denver radio station years back and he used to talk about having 4-5 cups of coffee to keep him wired all day and if they took away the coffee it would get pretty interesting....

Great pick up, sad to see him leave Chicago, but it was for the better of the team. There is no loyalty in baseball anymore...or sports in general for that matter. I would really like to have seen him stay as DH for the Sox, but the deal for Thome killed that idea.

Im just glad he didnt goto Cleveland or Minnesota. I wish him much success and hope he gets his 500th homer in an A's uni....or a late season trade deadline deal to Chicago after Thome gets hurt again. That would be nice.
