here a quick ipod trick for ya

You can create a /iPod_Control/Device/_show_voltage file and it will show you a number instead of the battery icon. You can use this to gauge how much battery you have left a bit more accurately than with the battery icon. Although the number does tend to jump around sometimes as well.

The other trick is to have the backlight off but when you need it holding the menu button for a few seconds will turn it on. This helps save battery life since you reduce the number of times the backlight goes on but you can turn it on when you really need it.

The ipods come with two different types of connections to your computer, im using the I394 Adapter, this square plug-in. I usually upload a hundred songs at a time and with this connection it only takes a minure and a half AT THE MOST to do about 100 songs. I would guess that with the I394 connection it uploads about 1gig every 2 minutes...its pretty fast.

^^^basically what I meant was, when you first bought your ipod and had to load everything onto it, how long did it take and how many GB did you transfer?
