What kind of router you got, it sounds like you need to open up ports on your router or you can put your computer in the DMZ which will allow all traffic to get though on every port.

D-Link routers arent so bad my D-link is worth the $20 I paid.

Holla if you need more help

I have a D-Link, and the funny thing is that I had lived with someone B4 who had a cable modem and we used the D-Link. I was connected wirelessly on my desktop and was able to have cats upp to me no problem.

But then when I got DSL at my crib an tried it, NO LUCK

Now at my folks house I'm at currently he has SBC and they give u a combo Router/Modem....The thing works well to be honest...But here's the layout:

Desktop - Connected str8 to the modem/router
Laptop - Wireless

JazzFan can u explain a bit more what u were talkin about?

Thanks!

What D-Link model is it exactly? Your router is blocking port 21 (port most commonly used to allow ftp traffic) more than likely so you need to go into your router and open port 21 for your computer.

If you tell me what your exact model is I'll get your direction on how to do that.

I know the router can do it cause as I said before, when I was living at a spot with a cable connection, I had a wireless card in my desktop and was able to have cats upp to me all day...I hate this shit! lol

So right now you're using a 2wire?

If you can't figure out how to unblock a port in the router, or port map, then change the port number in your FTP program to port 25, which is the same as outgoing mail. Then have the people that FTP to you connect through port 25. I used to have to do that in my old apartments kuz the complex didn't allow you to FTP, so they blocked out port 21.
