A lot of cats here won't be interested in this, but some will. I hadn't seen any mention of this so I figured I'd post it.

Earlier this month, Chris Lighty was named Senior Vice President of Jive Records. Along with the duties of that job he will also maintain his title of President of Violator Records, which will now be under the Jive umbrella. His first act brought over to Violator/Jive is Mobb Deep.

I think this is a good step for Jive. Someone with a background steeped in hip hop taking over the Senior Vice President position may actually mean Jive's rap acts get a little more love from the label than they have in the past. We'll see.

Yup. He goes way back.

He was a big part of Warren G's success with the Regulate album (when Violator was with Def Jam) so hopefully he'll put in some work with the West again. Hopefully he'll slide through the Bay to do some scouting. Time will tell.
