FOR THOSE THAT JOCK, WETHER ITS YUK 40 OR WHOEVER. OPEN YA EYES ITS NOT YOUR MUSIC STOP MAKING IT PERSONAL.

CATS SAY 40'S ALBUM IS THE BEST OF THE YEAR, HUMMMM AYIGHT. CATS SAY, FUCK YOU STOP HATING ON THE EMBASADOR OF THE BAY AND THIS AND THAT, HUMMMMMMM OK.

FIRST OFF. THERE WERE A FEW GOOD TRACKS ON THE 40. THATS IT. ALOT OF IT SOUNDED THE SAME, AND SOUNDED EASTCOAST/NEPTUNEISHHHHHHHHH. THE SAME SOUND, OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER. I MEAN HOW MANY TIMES CAN THE SAME BEAT BE DONE.

MAKE A WEED TRACK, CHILL LAYED BACK SOMETHIN YOU CAN SMOKE TO. MAKE A DOWN SOUTH TYPE TRACK, AND NO THAT DOSENT =====LIL JOHN YELLING OVER A BORING BEAT. MAKE A FEW CALI TRACKS, MEANING INSTERMENTS LAYED BACK, OR UP BEAT. MAKE A COUPLE MIDWEST SOUNDING TRACKS. SLOW CLAP DRAWN OUT INSTERMENTS AND A QUICKER FLOW. A REMIX OF A CLASSIC TRACK. AND MABEY THROW A EAST COAST TRACK IN THERE.

DONT JUST MAKE THE SAME SOUND USING THE SAME SHIT. AND EVEN ON BEATS WITH SYNTHS OR ANY INSTERMENTS ARTIST NOW ARE THROWING THEM SO FAR IN THE BACK ROUND AND DROWNING OUT THE SOUND WITH BASE YOU CANT EVEN HERE IT.

ALSO GOAPLE SOUNDED HORRIBLE ON THAT TRACK. RANKIN SCROO, CAME PRETTY COOL. NORMALLY ALL I FEEL IS PAPPA REU WHEN IT COMES TO THOSE TYPE OF VOCALS. BUT HE PUT IT DOWN.

LETS GO BACK TO OUR MUSIC. INSTERMENTS THAT FLOW OVER A CLEAN BASE LINE. NOT BASE WITH NOTHING THERE. OR INSTERMENTS THAT JUST MAKE THE BASE SOUND LOUDER. I WANT MUSIC NOT MY WINDOWS SHAKING.

AGAIN STOP MAKING IT PERSONAL. 40 SPIT ON THAT CD, HE PUT IT DOWN. BUT THE PRODUCTION 1. DIDNT FIT HIM 2. DIDNT FIT THE WEST AND 3. WAS UN ORIGINAL AND SOUNDED THE SAME.

I'm surprised that there are not more responses to this.....

Wait, no I'm not. Why? Cuz thats how it works on this board. If you speak your opinion yur get called a hater. Pull a card or two on some real life shit your a hater again.

40, yuk, whoever, cats be on here talkin about these artists like they are buying baby formula for they kids. Then when someone gets on and speaks an opinion on something its almost like you spit in they mommas face. They want to posse up on you.

Speak on that shit proppa Cuz I agree with you. 90% of the shit that is coming out now is garbage. Somewhere the realness fell off and the bullshit crept in.

I agree

Most rap "music" isnt music these days...just noise and fast rhythm..after hearing the first couple singles off 40's new album I dont think Id take that album if it was given to me..

IMHO, E-40 is unlikely to return to making CDs that are ALL dope unless he leaves Jive and puts out his future shit independently.

Remember The Mossie's POINT SEEN, MONEY GONE and D-Shot's MONEY, SEX & THUGS from 2001? Both of those were dope, and they were on Sic-Wid-It/Bayside (an indie distributor). Compare those CDs to The Click's CD of 2001 (MONEY & MUSCLE) which was on Sic-Wid-It/Jive (a major distributor) and tell me which YOU'D rather hear...

I still think that Jive, being a major, probably PRESSURES 40 to make certain songs--once you've signed the contract, they've got you by the nuts. Can they refuse to put out your CD if there's no radio-friendly songs? You bet they can. Unless 40 goes to a distributor that doesn't care so much about radio play, I fear that the BREAKING NEWS pattern is likely to continue, unfortunately.

40 himself said back in '99 that Jive was on some "pop tart shit", with Britney Spears, etc. I don't know why 40 stays signed with them...at least B-Legit's last one (HARD 2 B-LEGIT) maintained his old flavor while making him sound up-to-date (in a dope way).

PEACE!

Tons of quality albums came out on SWI/Jive before those that you mentioned...Times have changed and so have styles..thats all there is to it..

Sure, I feel you on that...my point was that The Mossie's and D-Shot's CDs from 2001, which were NOT distributed by Jive, just seemed less compromised. Whereas The Click's MONEY & MUSCLE, which WAS distributed by Jive, seemed more like a "party songs for the ladies" affair (although there were some dope cuts on it). To me, the fact that the CD distributed by a major (MONEY & MUSCLE) was more compromised musically than those distributed independently (Mossie, D-Shot) should not be considered "just a coincidence."

I know times have changed, but it just seems a shame that everybody has to play follow-the-leader. In the words of Bill Cosby: "There is no guarantee for success. But the guaranteed way to fail is to try to please everybody."

PEACE!

I disagree. I just listened to the whole thing on northern-ridaz and I wouldnt say he changed for anybody. his shit as just progressed over the years and changed. no ones style in any kind of music stays the same album after album. if it did, we would get bored. and dont try to say otherwise cause you will.

now as far as the album. I aint the type to like an album just cause i like the artist. but I aint the type to speak my mind if an album is bammer unless I am asked because I figure there aint no reason to criticize someones hard work for no reason. but this album here is actually BETTER than I expected. the beats aint nearly as bad as people are saying. they are different but tight IMO.

the problem with people these days is you expect musicians to be exactly what you want. You aint gonna make money unless you make a new product. you have to be creative. the market is so over saturated with music these days that only the artists that stand out are gonna make money. as much I like bay rap, it is obvious that not many people outside the bay (and actually not many people here) like bay rap.

So just cuase he hasnt catered to your wants and needs, dont mean he is falling off. In fact, because of the music he has made this past year, he is actually getting recognized throughout the country again like he should be. so while you are working 40+ hours a week just getting by, 40 will probably sell more albums than he has in each of his past three albums and go buy another mansion and a few cars.
