In a few weeks the pirate bay will be creating a similar site to OiNK - BOiNK. This will be a public tracker.

The Pirate Bay To Bring Back OiNK
Written by Ernesto on October 26, 2007

The Pirate Bay is currently working on an OiNK replacement in an attempt to bring the hundreds of thousands of music albums back online that disappeared during the raid. The replacement will be released within a week and on the BOiNK.cd domain.

BOiNK will be a little different from OiNK. For instance, the tracker will be public and it will start out with a lot less torrents than OiNK had when it was raided. The success of BOiNK will mainly depend on the former OiNK community, who will be asked to upload their old OiNK torrents.

The most important thing about BOiNK is perhaps the message it sends out to the IFPI and the BPI: It shows that that if you stop one tracker, others will pop up days after. It is a hydra. Call it a slap in the face if you want.

BOiNK will probably be ready in a few days. People from the Pirate Bay, Mininova, TorrentFreak and even the recently arrested (and released) OiNK admin are currently at The Oil of the 21st Century conference where they are - among other things - discussing filesharing, culture and copyright related issues.

BOiNK is a Pirate Bay only project, OiNK and other BitTorrent sites are not involved.

In the meantime, please stay away from scam sites that pretend to be related to OiNK. All they will do is take your money and run away. As soon as there’s an approved donation campaign (if there will be any) we will report it here.

Anyone who thinks this is a set-up is fucking paranoid. The folks who run the pirate bay have been around for a while -- and recently just attended a conference about file-sharing with the guy who ran OiNK. The pirate bay also helped secure www.oink.cd back to the rightful owners. It is probably not going to be used for a torrent site again anytime soon, but who knows what the future will hold.

Anyways, it is obvious that the ones who shut down OiNK were not going to go after the users. 180,000 people spread across the globe -- it just would not be practical. Not to mention it is not the first time they made idle threats after shutting down a torrent site.

who has been using What . cd???

I got this email today:

Dear registered user of the site What.cd,

We have recently been investigating the activities of the users of the
site what. cd and we have found that this site exists for the
sole purpose of music piracy.

Pirating music is a criminal offence and we believe it should be obvious
to you that the results outweigh the benefits - hard working artists
won't be rewarded for their work and will stop producing music,
ultimately leading to a severely reduced selection of music both in the
shops and for download.

The RIAA had hoped that the disabling by the police of the large illegal
music site, Oink.cd, would stop a lot of people from engaging in piracy,
as they don't want to be seen as criminals. However, this appears to
not be the case, as two large new sites have sprung up in its place.

This email is the final warning to all of you who were members of
Oink.cd and are current members of What.cd. If we find you to be
committing any more criminal acts of piracy then we will have to press
charges against you, as representatives of the major record companies of
America.

Yours Faithfully,

The RIAA

theyre exactly what they say they are.. private torrent sites..you'll usually end up getting everything dumb ass faster..but then you gota share just as much as you download too it's not like gettin somethin off a public torrent site downloading it and stopping you actually gota seed back otherwise you get kicked out...and you just gota find someone with invites for the place you want..
