Yes, I died several times today, but just for a few seconds. Nah, just shitting you (slang for joking incase you guys didn't know).

Use of the word 'God' in surprise situations by athiests is based on the existing and extensive paradigm surrounding religion. Or, if you like, it's just one of those things people say.

I have a strange saying with my uncle - whenever he leaves my house, we either use the phrase - 'see you later, God bless you!' or, alternatively, the phrase 'see you later, satan fucks you!' - again, it has no real meaning whatsoever, but it's just something that's developed over the years and now I don't even think about it.

I do like the joke, but I think many people use "God" as a stereotypical word and don't even think about the meaning behind it.

When I say GOD DAMN IT, I'm not really saying damn God (if there is one, or more), all I'm saying is, fuck shit mother fucker I'm mad!

Atheists tend to have a better head on their shoulders though....no offense, but to me they seem to be more logical in regard to more aspects...

Why because you think our Faith Limits us to other aspects?
In some cases YES. In some cases NO. Every situation is individual and left up to the person who's making the choice.

There are very smart theists on here and there are some fucking retards that don't know Jesus from some guy with dreads in a E-40 video.

Some of the atheists say, "well god is stupid so I don't believe in that stupid shit," and that's fucking retarded too.

Out of EVERY atheist I know, compared to theists, the Atheists OVERWHELMINGLY outway the logical thought process. Theists too often say, "it's in God's hands, I can't do anything," or "it's God's will so I'll let it happen," or something along those lines. These people are foolish in my opinion because there is always something you can do, being passive is a choice. Doing nothin is a choice, and it's NOT "God's" choice. That's why all humans have free will. Some of them are forced by others in power to do things they dont' want to do, but choosing to follow that power, is still a choice. It comes down to principle and who is strong enough to stand up for what they believe.

People in general are dumbfucks.

BUT out of my own personal experience most theist ARE limited by their faith. Although the majority aren't anything like what popular media portrays them to be (religious fanatics, wacko conservatives). Where as Atheist are usually shown as intellectuals or scholars on tv, when in reality 99% of the ones I know are strung out dope fiends.

Thats almost similar to my experience. I'd also like to add that some of the atheist I've encountered actually claim to not believe in God, but they still say they hate him. When questioned about this some of them (the smart ones) change it up and say they hate the "idea" of God.

I definately agree that about 97% of people are fucking morons. I mean, there's morons of all types, white, black, Christian, Islamic, Mormon, whatever. There's always a stupid fuck in every category because there's so many stupid people that just won't open their eyes.

I may not have articulated my point well enough, but Mexican Commando hit the nail on the head when he said MOST theists are limited by their faith. A lot of Theists will not even consider another possibility because they are so wrapped up in thinking everything is God..

And to be honest, most Theists (Christians in this country) don't know shit about their own religion. They tend to be taught, rather than teaching themselves. I'm not trying to say Atheists are any better, cause I know some STUPID ASS Atheists that even I want to slap the fuck out of.

I think anyone with a brain would balance things out and consider everything, whether they "believe" it or not. Things happen that people can't believe, but they have to cause it happened. There's no way around it. I just feel people should consider all sides of the story and then form ideas, but that's just me.

This whole arguement about athiest reaching out to god when faced with death, and how that somehow legitimises religion is retarded. If anything it just proves how in desperate times, or in situations when you need to excape from reality and whats really going on, people will turn to a higher power in hopes of something "saving" them. Some people can't cope with reality and its uncertainties so religion is something they fall back on because it provides "answers" and gives comfort. I don't think religion is bad in that regard, but me personally I'm not about to accept easy answers that are absent of evidence and lack logic just so I can feel I know the unknown. I'm comfortable with the fact that there are things that are unknown, but as time goes on more and more things are being discovered scientifically that make sense and have mounds of evidence that back it up.

I don't think that most Atheists use the word "God" as theists do. Theists use the word God. Atheists might use the word "god" but they aren't asking YOUR "God" for help or anything like that. It's a general expression that has been driven into society over time. It's like calling a police officer a COP and not a COPPER...seeing that's where it came from, since they use to have copper buttons or some bullshit like that.

If you dont' know HOW the word is being used, DO NOT discuss it...at least until you get a fucking clue.

That's only if you are religious and believe in ONE God.

If you look at how they say it, from THEIR perspective (which is how you should look at it), you will realize they (the Atheists that are actual Atheists and not bullshitters) aren't saying God, it's god. It's just another word, at least that's how I think of it.

Have you looked into Gnosticism? I believe they're Christian and don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. Are you Protestant or what?

Point being, you can't look at everyone's life from YOUR perspective cause you aren't getting the TRUTH. You're getting YOUR truth which is usually jumbled (not just you, most people). The only way you can look at someone else's life and effectively evaluate it is to first, look at it from their perspective, then look at it from an overall perspective without your own personal bias. If you don't, all you get is your own opinion on things you don't know and haven't experienced...and if you have done the same things, or some of them, every situation is different and effects each individual in a different way.

Yes, I hate the Gnostic Doctrines, and Yes I am a Prostestan, and no denomination. I have looked from Several Perspectives, from a Jewish, Catholic, and a Reformed Protestand Perspective and a Atheists Perspective. As you said, it's help you understand without a self bias. But I do that for the sole purpose of asking Rhetorical question. So when I argue with them, I won't look like a dumb founded person, but it happens to the best of us right? But I know the truth, and many will say the same thing, but only way we'll know, is on the Day of Judgement.

Everyone has a different truth though. The only Truth, is death. Everyone dies, so in the end, everything is the same, even if it's different.

Have you seen "I <3 Huckabees" (I Heart Huckabees)? I think you should rent it and check it out...It brings up good questions, as well as it being funny. It provoked some good thoughts in my head.

What I meant by perspectives was meant for each individual situation, not just overall. Although, I do think asking yourself rhetorical questions is good, I do the same thing, but I just like thinking sometimes.

The other thing is, there are all sorts of terms that were used a long time ago that would mean different things. "Thou shalt not KILL"....Kill and murder apparently are two different things, I disagree with that, but those who wrote the Old Testament apparently consider them different.

Did you know that hundreds of years ago, the people translating the Bible weren't necessarily scholars? They were the "smartest" person in the town, which leaves WAY too much room for error for me to take anything written in any testament literally. I usually take it as metaphor and try to apply it to the universe...as a "free thinker," not someone who reads things and believes them as Truth.
