OK by now I hope most of you know that when you throw tons of fonts in your fonts folder its going to dramatically slow down your systems performance. Those font will be loaded every time you start a program that uses fonts. The answer to this issue is a font management program that allows you to turn off and on font of your choice, thus reducing the system from loading thousands of fonts, and increasing performance. I have found that one of the most highly recommended programs is Extensis Suitcase.
