Great business move for him. His theatrics before the Oscar and Hatton fights was similar to those cats in the WWE, so its a perfect fit.

He still has to fight Cotto though, IMO to secure his legacy in boxing.

Dude is getting breaded tho...WTF 20 Mill ?!?!

Making as much as he did for the biggest fight in boxing history....without risking anything ! Genius !

I was talking with my wife about this last night; shit, they're getting ripped off. I'd let Big Show stomp me into the canvass for 10 million, half the price!

Although...I doubt they'd sell more than 8 tickets.

NM...

yall have to be crazy if you really believe dude is getting 20 million dollars for this. That is bigger hype and news then even having floyd doing the event in the 1st place. He may be getting 1 or 2 million tops. I read in a article the most money steve austin made in 1 year was 6 million dollars.
steve austin was a wrestler under wwe payroll tho.. so why would he get 20 million for?? do u really think stone cold steve austin is valued anywhere near mayweather?? he's just a fuckin wrestler.. floyd mayweather is gettin breaded regardless because that's his ticket for any kinda fight he doing, this is one of the biggest publicity stunts the wwe did since the late 90's with tyson (and tyson didnt have to wrestle), and believe me they gon make that money back plus some on the ppv.. fake fighting or not, vince is a billionaire and 20 million aint shit to someone like mcmahon, especially if he makin that bread right back with major extras to come follow with it.. i see that u got a tycoon state of mind as it says under ur name, so i know u know that it takes money to make that money.. and when ur giving a show like that, and u got tens of thousands of people paying for tickets($40 - $250 via www.wwe.com) and millions of people paying for pay per view($59.95), then all the sales of merchandise, all that shit stacks up and is gonna shit on that 20 million he gave mayweather.. now i aint tryna salt on what u sayin, i just feel that mayweather is worth that amount of bread when it comes to a pay per view event, because he's gon bring in that dough.. also why would they report that on yahoo sports or on espn.com(http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3264690) , its not like wikipedia where u can edit the page and just post some bullshit and it sure aint the rumors section.. they got they credebility on the line..

About a year ago, Forbes had him listed as being worth more than 400 million.

If that's true - not a billionaire.

Does that mean Floyd's not getting 20 mil? No, not necessarily.

Even if Vince isnt a billionaire, WWE is still a billion dollar company. Even with ratings dipping nationally WWE's global expansion the past few years has been HUGE and the main reason behind rising stock prices. 20 Million will easily be made at the gate alone selling 70,000+ tickets. Then you add in charging a few hundred thousand households 60 bucks to watch it on PPV, then selling the DVD for $40 they will easily get this all back.

Plus, now you got ESPN, CNN, Yahoo, and your local 11 O Clock news channel talking about your PPV which they defenitely wouldnt have done otherwise. 20 Million well spent if you ask me.

I have no idea if Mayweather is making 20 Million or not and don't care, but I'm sure if they are paying him that much some or most of that money will be considered as advertising. You have to think about how much money every year a company like WWE spends on advertising, this year they take a portion of that and put it into Mayweather, which has made headlines all over the place from yahoo sports to espn, etc. Its called publicity. Gets people interested, buys the PPV, etc.

So it's not insane if you think about it in this respect.
