So my trusty Digi 001, which has been good to me since 98' crapped out !!! Damn!

im not looken to spend a grip, and I think im going to stay clear of the Digi ASIO's they suck on PC's systems!

I'm figuring its either Presonus or M-Audio...

do any of you have any complaints with sound quality... I just need a clean line in, with no hiss. I have a power'd Amp, Compressor feed in ect.

If I get firewire, ill need a firewire card ?( so that'll be a little extra money)

would firewire and usb be about the same, or will i experience more latency with USB?

someone was saying M-Audio works with pro tools? hows the ASIO work with that? What versions are compatible? im guessing my 6.4 wont recognize m-audio

Thanks... I been stuck in DIGI 001 world for like 7 plus years!

Actually Digi's stuff sounds pretty crappy. Everybody gots digi-hardware though cause they need it to run protools. Some of their Higher-end equipment aint to bad though.

Firewire is the way to go, period.

I don't like the Delta, it's over rated, old. I'm just sick of hearing the Delta. I like M-Audio, don't get me wrong, I just think they need to catch up a little bit.

If you want a solid audio/recording interface, get a PreSonus FireWire interface!

They make great devices.

What isn't a grip?

hows the connectivity ins and outs on it ? xlr's good earphone outs?
You can't beat PreSonus as far as connectivity goes man. You won't like Delta's connectivity, it's horrible dude.

Even the $299 budget Firebox, has great connectivity for such a small device. You can have a microphone plugged in one, an electric guitar or bass, or anything else in the other. In case your not familiar with the front mic/instrument pre amps, I'm sure you are, they are dual and can hold XLR or 1/4" (I love this technology, it's genius). Your controllers, your monitors can connect in the back. Great headphone outs in the front. With levels. This small device packs a punch. I love the Midi - S/PDIF expansion on the back.

And yes you'll need to install a PCI Firewire card in one of the slots on your PC if you do not have any Firewire inputs. But they are not expensive, and they are easy to install.

If you need to be using Pro Tools, the M-Audio way is a step back IMO. You need to either invest in new Digi hardware. Or go a different route boy. I personally prefer Cubase SX.

Pro Tools is good when it works right personally I have a M-Box 2 Pro and it work's very good. The sound is only as good as what you put in it so the more money the better. Also converters play a big part in the sound to there are alot of things and just cause your interface is good doesn't mean anything. Mixing, bussing,Panning,Volume Analyzers checking for digital clipping etc are where the final mix sound plays the big role. My advice is knowledge that's the most deadly audio weapon. Peace!!!

I've been using the M-Audio MobilePre (not with Pro Tools though, with Cubase). But up until now, I've been running my analog mixer into it and the song sounds pretty good from what I know about it sounding good or bad. I've just recently gotten rid of the mixer and have the mic (XLR) plugged directly into the MobilePre, haven't recorded anything this way yet, but when I do I'll let you know how it sounds. But I think with M-Audio interfaces can only run the M-Powered version of Pro Tools.
