Firewire for audio & midi...who's using it?

Anyone here using Firewire only for their audio and midi? How do you like it?

I use the 002r firewire interface and my motif es has firewire. I have no problems with either unit.

I just got a Firebox recently..Works pretty good, I just wish there was 2 more line inputs but its all good... If I need more line inputs ill just use my Delta 1010.

Anyone here using Firewire only for their audio and midi? How do you like it?

I bought a USB2 audio interface because someone convinced me the firewire port on laptops isn't always adequate to power firewire interfaces, not wanting to take a chance, I went with Fast Track Pro (USB).

I think that dude might've been blowing smoke up my ass tho, I wish I had gone with Firewire, lower latency than USB2.

I use firewire over USB whenever possible (external drives, video capture, etc)

Are you saying you want more firewire inputs?

Nah Im referring to the 1/4 inch line inputs on the back of the Firebox. I use them to connect one of my synths to the Firebox but thats the problem..I can only have audio signal from one MIDI source going into the Firebox since I use 1 line input for the left audio output of my synth and the the 2nd input for the right audio output of my synth. I have a USB MIDI sport that I use for all my MIDI sources but I can only use one at a time when Im feeding audio signal through the Firebox and into my computer. Thats where my Delta 1010 comes in handy with 8 I/O's.

I'M LIKE HERESY,
I HAVE MY MOTIF THAT HAS AN EXPANSION SLOT FOR THE MLAN WHICH IS AN EXPANSION BOARD WITH THE FIREWIRE. I HAVEN'T gOT IT YET, BUT 400 BUKS AND I'LL BE DROPPIN' AUDIO THRU IT.
