masterpiece...

finally a game that made me stop playing disgaea 2

surprised i havent heard much about it on here. figured i would bring it up.

took me while to get into givin how slow the game starts out and gettin to adjusted to the new battle system (which i wasnt fond of at first) but now that i am pretty much half way through the game i couldnt be more happy, gameplay and story are on par with any FF title. not to mention the graphics being some of the best ever i have ever seen on ps2. the setting is dope, nice to see the world of ivalice fully rendered. still maintained all the same weapon and item names from tactics and everything, pretty sick. honestly have no complaints outside of the obvious trouble with camera angles sometimes, but thats just a givin for any 3rd person game with a rotating camera

i think the characters are abit crap an uninspired, not to mention also looking like hitler youth. but that aside what ive seen looks cool.
You hit teh nail on the head. The characters look like "pretty white kids" out of 14th century europe, and the costumes/uniforms everyone wears looks retarded. I snatched thsi game, and I played it for a couple of hourse before going back to Guitar Hero 2. I don't like the combat system either. It takes to long for the meter to charge up, and some of the enemies you encounter early on kill you with one hit. A prime example is when you go to the desert and you see that T-rex/raptor thing chasing teh wolves. Well, you can fight this fool when you see him, but his hits take 900 damage from your meter, and your only at 150 or somethin like that.

I need to finish Okami, start a campaign of Disgaea 2, wrap up a few more rounds of GH2, crack open tales of abyss, and get it all done so I can play GOW.

^^^damn, the games on our playlists are exactly the same, haha

im about half way through okami
on my third cycle of disgaea
havent touched my tales of the abyss yet
just got GH2 last night
and am getting GOW tomorrow

a thing you might want to do heresy,is turn up the battle speed in your game,i put mine upa couple notches...speeds up the pace a bit, meters charge faster

also as your progress through licensing you will be able to increase the speed of your wait time. like i said,i hated it at first but as you progress and gain more skills it will grow on you

cant really argue the look of the characters except to point out the fact that 90% of RPGS have white kids wearing dumb shit, haha

Yeah, the majority of rpgs do have white kids or anime characters, and I don't have a problem with that, but these kids look like homosexuals. Seriously, the main character looks like a homosexual, and his rainbow colored outfit doesn't work in his favor. I think they tried to base this shit off the designs from FF Tactics, cause if I'm not mistaken, it takes place in the same world, but these fools look gay. On top of that I have a thing against rpgs that DON'T change the way your man looks when you equip new weapons and armor (almost 97%) I don't know which game is worse, this, or VP:SILMERIA, but I'm gonna put in a couple of more hours this week before I nail this report for class. After I finish this report I'm goin straight to GOW. Nothing else will be played until I beat that game on its hardest setting.

Not exactly its just the same artist as Final Fantasy Tactics,Vagrant Story,Tactics Ogre,Ogre Battle.

And the games development team is the same as those games as well.

FF XI isn't a true FF like all the others its a online rpg and was planned to be multi platform from the start it came out on PC first in the USA then PS2 then xbox.
Online rpgs aren't for everyone generally all you do is kill countless monsters for countless hours and level up your character so you can advance to another area to kill more countless monsters.

FF XII is a real FF like 1-10 its a single player and story driven game.
Square Enix has said they would never put FF X or FF XII or Dragon Quest VIII on Xbox or even gamecube.
They wouldn't want ppl to buy a system just to play final fantasy or dragon quest. (In case you didn't know Dragon Quest is a RPG series Enix started somewhat like FF but in Japan its a lot more popular than FF)
In Japan PS2 is the most popular and the game system everyone owns so its the best system and only system there going to release new FF's for and Dragon Quest for.
Just like Final Fantasy XIII (13) will only be on PS3.
90 % of Japanese game companies are mostly only to release their console games on PS2 and soon only PS3.
Although some might be interested in exploring Nintendo Wii for somethings.

But if your a FF fan or a gamefan in general why don't you already have a ps2? :ermm:

Wrong. Look at the way the characters costumes are designed in tactics and look at final fantasy XII. I'm not talking about the art style (anime kids vs semi-lokking anime kids vs semie realistic people.) If you look at uniforms and costumes the characters wear in FF tactics you'll see a strong resemblance to the ones in FF XII.

Final Fantasy XII is also set in a world called Ivalice. However, it appears to be the Ivalice of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as the two moogles Montblanc and Nono make appearances as a clan leader and an airship mechanic respectively. No characters from Final Fantasy Tactics are present, however certain story elements are.

and

The story is based on the fictitious land of Ivalice, which has also been used in its spinoff, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and in Final Fantasy XII. The story takes place hundreds of years before the events of Final Fantasy XII.

Obviously your a moron and couldn't understand of course its like because its the same artist as FFT as well as the game design.

.
And I've known it takes place in the same world as FFT way before the game even came out....supposedly 1,000 years later than FFT (ps1)
The art design is done by the same people as FFT so its obviously its going to have the same style or very similar style no matter what.
So no shit the game is somewhat similar even if it wasn't set in Ivalice it would be somewhat similar to FFT,Vagrant Story and or Tactics Ogre.
But since it is in Ivalice it will have more similarties to FFT.
But if someone plays Vagrant Story they'll see similarties from that in FF XII as well.

The direction, script, concept, story and music is done by the same people as well.

And FF 1-6,9 are similar in art because -same artist.

FF 7-8,10 -same artist

Chrono Trigger, & Dragon Quest -same artist.

etc...

It don't matter what world a game is in if it has the same artist its going to be similar looking.

Obviously you're the moron for typing a sentence that doesn't make sense. Because a certain team did the concept art that does NOT mean the stories have to be related, and any person who assumes this is a COMPLETE dummy. If we take your logic a step further and apply it to the FF brand and Chocobo's, all FF characters and storylines are related. LMAO!

And I've known it takes place in the same world as FFT way before the game even came out....supposedly 1,000 years later than FFT (ps1)
Sure you did, which is why you made the post you did.

The art design is done by the same people as FFT so its obviously its going to have the same style or very similar style no matter what.
This board is full of idiots and people who lack the ability to read and respond critically. When I made my statement you followed it up by quoting me and typing "not really." There have been MANY games where the company had a specific art style but switched it up for another game. Because an art style is the same that does not mean the stories have to be. Look at CHRONO TRIGGER. If I am not mistaken the artist for that game was the artist for DBZ, but do you see niggas growin blond hair and powering up to become apes? No.

So no shit the game is somewhat similar even if it wasn't set in Ivalice it would be somewhat similar to FFT,Vagrant Story and or Tactics Ogre.
I am talking about the location of the game, references made in the game and how the costumes look. They can change the name to "Final Fantasy SPV is retarded as fuck", have a crippled anime artist draw the shit and you still wouldn't have a point.

But since it is in Ivalice it will have more similarties to FFT.
But if someone plays Vagrant Story they'll see similarties from that in FF XII as well.
SEE ABOVE.

The direction, script, concept, story and music is done by the same people as well.
So? Does that mean they have to be related? LMAO! What I am saying is they have a certain design because the stories are intertwined in some way. You're saying because they have the same artist they have to look a certain way. I'm saying your way of thinking is illogical.

And FF 1-6,9 are similar in art because -same artist
Lets take a look at 9 and compare it to all the other versions. In 9 the characters look like super deformed characters, but in 1-6 the characters look more realistic or like something out of the renaissance, however, according to your twisted logic the art looks the same because they were drawn by the same artist.

FF 7-8,10 -same artist
And which of these games are related?

Chrono Trigger, & Dragon Quest -same artist.
Are the stories related?

It don't matter what world a game is in if it has the same artist its going to be similar looking.
How come the art for FF9 looks NOTHING like the art from 1-6? How come the character artwork from 12 looks NOTHING like the artwork found in tactics? You see ANIME looking designs in tactics,bBig ass heads, small waists, big eyes, a slit for the mouth and effeminate looking male characters. However, in 12, the characters look more realistic in concept art and the way the bodies are designed (things are more proportionate.)

Again, look at the way the characters costumes are designed in tactics and look at final fantasy XII. I'm not talking about the art style (anime kids vs semi-looking anime kids vs semie realistic people.) If you look at uniforms and costumes the characters wear in FF tactics you'll see a strong resemblance to the ones in FF XII. Next tiem read before you reply, buddy.

i thought it was tight but my problems are that:

1) i beat it in like 30 hours...granted i didnt do the side shit but still, it seemed way too short for all the plot points that were brought up.

2) the characters are uninspired and dont stand out much. it seems like they TRIED to develop the characters too much, like random little episodes that are pointless jus to give characters some substance

3) the plot is good and i like how its political and what not, but its just not engaging or personal at all.

4) the environments are cool, but theyre not that memorable. nothing in the game is that memorable actually...i wont remember any key scenes or moments in years (probobly even months or weeks) to come.

5) why the fuck is vaan (and penelo, for that matter) even in the game??? why do the rest of the characters feel their presence is necessary? what is their motivation for the journey? and most of all WHY IS HE THE MAIN CHARACTER?! his whole existence in the game jus made no sense to me...
